« on: October 19, 2017, 04:05:41 pm »

Is there any way to train my children and peasants?Besides putting them in the army?If so could I get a kid to become legendary at a skill(even combat).

Dwarven Childcare is all about getting the kids trained in background skills and attributes. Won't do anything for direct combat skills, but for stuff like swimming, discipline, and observer skill, you can set up a childcare center to start them off.

There's a whole thread devoted to it.  http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=91093.0

Correction: It was also about training direct combat skills, by tossing progressively harder living and dead enemies into rooms for children to kill. No Legendary weaponmasters, sadly, but legendary punching is possible.

Yes, you definitely can teach a lot of useful stuff for dwarven children during the 11 years they'd otherwise wander around doing nothing. See the more recent child care thread for some ideas, especially the last pages since they're relevant for the current version.

All those methods of course work for adult peasants who might need some toughening up. Or why not have fortress-wide swimming lessons/zombie mashing sessions? Your call.
