Imperial Commander: Rise from the Shadows
« on: October 23, 2017, 04:19:24 pm »

We are all that is left.

It is ten years after the Fall, when Mankind's great Empire fragmented, its armies destroyed, the Fleet scattered.
We are all that is left.

The Imperium was huge, covering perhaps 70% of the Milky Way. Yet due to interstellar storms, failing technology, wars over interests, and a failing dynasty, the Empire dissolved. Only five sectors are still loyal, not counting Sol itself, the very cradle of Humanity. We are all that's left of the Loyalists, but change beckons. Sol is secure, the local rebellions are quelled. The time is almost here to expand once more.

Phase 1: Missions

- Strange lights have spooked the residents of Sirius five. Who will respond?

- There have been strange sightings in the northwest sector. Who will engage?

- Pilgrims from Holy Terra request a escort to colonize a new, sacred world they have observed, and we must ensure their safety as they found their new colony.

- There have been distress calls in the Foresnia sector. Who wishes to respond?

How this works: There are currently three commanders. You guys decide who takes which mission, the fourth will be removed and the others can help you in your own missions. Each mission leads to different things.

Phase Two: Designs

This is the most important part of game play, designing new devices or technologies. NPCs will offer access to archives for the tech you do not have (no roll needed but they have a big for balance issues.)

Happy hunting commanders. More character and Empire fluff will show up as missions unfold. Story will ensue---you have been warned!

Some of our commander's forces utilize xeno beasts, they have proven to be both useful and a way to preserve precious human lives in no win situations.  We can do better though, a new beast, based on a Terran animal, available to all, which can be used for front line combat and stealth missions.  Let us show our enemies we were never alone in this fight.

Lion-Pattern Kill-Beast

A genetically enhanced lion-like creature the size of a large horse with the loyalty and training of a war dog as instinct, but much quieter.  Able to be trained for many roles from stealth ops and combat to hunting and search and rescue.  They are enhanced with thin but tough sub-dermal plating and dangerous tooth and claw combat implants making them dangerous to even armed and armored soldiers.

Surgical and Procedural Adaptation and Rapid Transformation of Anatomical Necessities
The SPARTAN program aims to utilize cybernetics and biotech to transform bones to metal and give our soldiers incredible strength, mobility, and toughness. It is, however, very specifically, conversion of preexisting biological components to more advanced materials, NOT implantation of new stuff. Because we're not implanting new things, the process is both not likely to kill the subject and also not (necessarily) obvious.

Notice: No need to team vote for npc research as all six vote for it.

Carapace Armor

Describition: Currently our basic soldiers have access to outdated Kevlar, in a space age battle field. Powered armor is available, but not for everyone. Solution? A body weave suit of micro Duracell plates that covers shoulders to feet, flexible, but more durable than current armor. In s attempt to keep our brave soldiers alive.

Notice: After Fox submission, the dice of destiny rolls. Then revision, mission tactical lay out and battles/plot.

Multi Combat Role Spacecraft 25 aka “Foxbat”

This new Spacecraft is designed to fulfill a variety of combat and support missions, both in space on in atmosphere. . Along with dual internally mounted auto-cannons, it features multiple internal weapon mounts for Missiles, rocket pods, torpedoes, dumb and smart bombs, as well as mounts for upgraded sensor packages and fuel. It has two men on-board, a pilot and weapons officer.  Its protection come from a combination of speed and advanced countermeasures such as flares, chaff, ECM pods, with its armor being a secondary concern. Its two engines are designed to allow it to take off conventionally or vertically, to allow it to launch from space carriers, field, or dedicated airfields.

"Dreaded Lance" Sniper Rifle:
The Dreaded Lance is a sniper rifle, of sorts. It fires a three-round burst of penetrating bolts vast distances, and after piercing armor, they explode. Meant to overkill enemy armored infantry.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Energanx Combat Stimulant

During particularly grueling combat situations, it is imperative that our forces remain in fighting condition. However, even the most robust of humans will eventually succumb to exhaustion, pain, and mental fatigue. By formulating a combat stimulant that staves off all three, our forces can continue to operate even beyond the limitations of ordinary soldiers, though side effects are to be expected.

Results.

Foxbat: 8

The research and engineer team got to work with the bold new idea of a superiority air craft. It worked. Thanks to AI programming it only needs two, even then can do some maneuvers on its own and a multi role machine. Capable of fighter, bomber, or both. Also learned methods to scrap a weapon array to fit additional persons onboard for a strike Craft that can air drop or lift people. A miraculous occasion. They are working to mass produce these.

Killer Lion: 8

Though some saw as a waste of time. The results show otherwise. These grown beasts can be equipped with any Cyberware a human can have, have neural boosters and with the Noosphere network antenna, can wireless communicate, change battle plans and coordinate. They are looking to appply the mental Cyberware to humans for a more armed countered part. Still good results as they exist as units.

Spartans:6

It worked. Though not everyone tested responded, the results are good and have our own super soldiers. Just in small supply, maybe apply cloning to the successive hosts to farm them? Up to you but still good work.

Combat Stims:6

They work and do their job. Voltuneers mainly use them. Super addictive and can cause neural damage in slow down unless a new fix, it does keep people pushing forward. Maybe a new cock tail to counter the nastier effects. 1 in ten people get strange visions.

Sniper Rifle: 5.

It works. Line it up and it fires. Though discharge of explosive tips do not always work, but the billets make it and easy enough to maintain.

Carapace Armor: 5

A embarrassment to the unities efforts of the battle commanders and promise to never have all sources on one project. All the constant bickering and design wars did make a new suit, good against kinetic damage, it protects against energy to a degree (tiny) and is flexible. That's it though. Can replace flak vests for standard armor.

Next: Revision: Take a item from sign up post and tweak it or your own or revise your doctrine/speciality gear to get more bang for the buck. For me the npc commanders either learn new doctrine to be useful or revise ( not make up new doctrine. Just adopt another's prevexisting thing.)

Also after revision do the official mission tags ( if not Commander like void or fallacy in which case I will assign them.) then the blood begins.

Revision:

Dust Sword

For those who wish to more adequately defend themselves in close quarters combat or even to impose such an ordeal upon an unprepared enemy, the current dust blades are perfect for such occasions since they can even cut through armored foes. However, they are so expensive that only the wealthiest of commanders can afford to equip all of their soldiers with them. By redesigning the Dust Blade to be cheaper without sacrificing utility or integrity, this weapon can be mass-produced to ensure that at least most of the soldiers can be better equipped.

Mission:

Commander Mnemosyne will discover what is spooking the civilians of Sirius 5.

So you and Mad Man doing that, Fox doing Distress signal. Two commanders to place and six npcs to add on as additional help. Hmmm.

First revise is up. Npc comes latter. Dice here is 6 sided, keep it simpler.

Second Skin Covert-Ops Armor
An enhanced version of the Carapace armor that creates no noise and protects much better against all types of damage. Includes a helmet with a face shield.

Ranger Company will deploy with the Foxhounds, serving as the primary ground force with the Foxhounds as transportation, air support, and QRF.

Always Exploding Bullets:
We make it so that our sniper rifle bullets always explode. Bonus points if we can fire them from our other guns.

MAR-3 "Momentum" Coilrifle Revision
Expanding upon the base MAR-2 weapon, this irons out the flaws of the previous weapon, as well as reducing cost. Firstly, a new barrel is adapted to accelerate the slug without actually making contact with the slug, making wear and tear almost a non issue. the barrel will only be the coils needed to accelerate the slug set in line surrounded by polymer plastic as a barrel cover, reducing cost and weight. Secondly, a 10 round magazine of Tungsten cored Steel slugs will be adopted to maintain a reasonable balance between weight and capacity. The Steel outer-casing upon impact will deform or shatter, imparting more energy upon the target as well as causing shrapnel to fly away from the target. The tungsten core will continue, providing greater penetration. Thirdly, a basic optic rail will be added to improve accuracy and usability for the troops. Finally, the rifles unnecessary features and material will either be remove entirely or replaced with a cheaper material to reduce cost, but not at the price of effectiveness. The stock, pistol grip, magazine, rear cover and other parts will be subject o this treatment.

Revisions!!! 1-6 roll.

Always Exploding Bullets: 6. Cheap and performs great. Now a optional bullet for all basic guns, exploding bullets, for all. :cheer.:

Armor upgrade: 6. It is stealthier, better defense, and now even cheaper.

Dusk Sword: 5. Now comes in multiple sizes and no lose of utility. Cuts good. Only flaw is having to re program damn sharpness each battery charge.

Coil Gun: 5. It makes gaus guns cheaper. But still not as cheap as basic guns.

Npc: Failed roll so I cannot masks revision this turn,

Now missions.

Madman/Elventide dealing with spooky situation, Fixbat the distress call?

Npc deal with fleet. And still colony escort mission.
