How famous am I?

Other than trying to recruit more followers, is there any way I can reliably tell??

For starters, you can tell about the feats you'd be proud of (killing a mega/semimegabeast/bandits for instance), and let it spread through town, and chances are when you're famous enough people will be outright shocked that you are in their prescence and talking to them, or at the very least knowing who you are and regarding you in a good name

Yea I've been bragging about my meager accomplishments so far...lol I also wonder if my companions kills only count as theirs or if assisting each other means I get to brag about it?

spreading the rumor via the "Bring up specific incident or rumour" chat option is much more reliable by the way, you can also tell stories using k->begin performace->tell story->(choose what happened), and more people will hear you.

That's really good information, thanks!

Hmmm under tell a story I have person or creature, site, civ or org, or region...and I assume it'd be person/creature, but none of the creatures I've killed are listed there...I can tell stories of how a companion died. Oddly none about myself...

Maybe ... shouting to brag about my violent acts?

Bragging does nothing yet. You don't have to tell stories to spread rumors. Use the "Bring up incident or rumour" button.

Finding things that actually pertain to me in that list is rough, yikes. Thanks I'll give that a try.

Another good way to get fame is to drop a monsters head or body down in front of the people to talk to and be like "I did this!"

It is under the site or region, actually.

Yeah the list isn't organized at all, except I think it does list conflicts you witnessed/participated in first. If I'm looking for something recent I usually just scroll through all the pages with * until it stops saying "summarize conflict" and the last thing there is the last thing I saw. It's a fucking hassle though I'm not gonna lie, like most of the conversation system right now.

This is also why I attempt to kill something significant right at the beginning of my game so that there's always something to pick off the first page.

I'd suggest using the filtering system but to me that shit doesn't work properly. It doesn't actually look for partial matches, and it doesn't accept some things as keywords. So that's a problem.

The rumour/incident list is organised by date/time with things you personally witnessed first.  The easiest way to spread a rumour about something you did recently is to go *backwards* through the list.  Just page up.  The first few pages will be general rumours you've heard about and after that will be specific things you've experienced.  The problem is that every time you encounter a creature it says you were attacked by it, so it's a pain to find anything.

Telling stories from regions or sites is the easiest way by far (IMHO). You just have to remember where you did things.  Usually you can remind yourself pretty quickly by looking at the map.  Again the list is ordered by date, so you normally want to go backwards through the list (page up).

The wiki is out of date with respect to bragging.  It works fine (I've tested it numerous times).  The main problem is that you don't get to decide what to brag about.  Sometimes this isn't a big deal -- you just keep bragging until it talks about the thing you wanted to say.  However, often (very often in my case) you *don't* want to talk about certain things.  For example, if you cleared out a dark pit that had kidnapped dwarfs in it -- some of those dwarfs may be family members of people you are talking to.  You run the risk of being labelled a murderer and becoming persona non grata in that area.  For me this is the main reason for avoiding bragging.  I normally only use it if I'm trying to goad someone into a no-quarter situation without escalating violently.
