Mad Science Arms Race Test(4/4): Oregon, 1924: Science Time!
« on: October 31, 2017, 07:31:04 pm »

Testing a Mad Science Arms Race game system.

Spoiler: Crude System Inside (click to show/hide)

It's a bit different than the normal system, but I'm hoping it'll work out.

I'm taking 4 players, Tyrant Leviathan has a reserved spot if he wants it due to his interest in the subject of an Arms Race where every player can choose to design something themselves.

Four players taken.

West Oregon: Happery, Nuke9.13!
East Oregon: RAM, Madman198237!

Mad Science was a rare and valuable gift. Many years before the war between the Hierarchy and the Rebellion, there was the Oregon Civil War. The great nation of Oregon split in two and warred against itself, each half only differentiated by its Mad Scientists, two on each side.

On the side of West Oregon, there was Thanatos Russ and Happerry. On the side of East Oregon, there was RAM and Madman198237. Mad Scientists had an unusual tendency to adopt unusual names for themselves...

Each Mad Scientist had several years of work to draw from beforehand, granting them each a Research Credit for one free scientific experiment. Each half of Oregon didn't have as much budget to allot as the Hierarchy or Rebellion, so each Scientist had 5 budget units to work with. Science was afoot, and soon the war would begin in earnest. East and West Oregon would live or die as a result of the efforts of their Scientists.

Spoiler: State of the War (click to show/hide)

((Be sure to spoiler your communications with your teammate, unless you want to tip your opponents off at what you're planning. Keep in mind you can work independently or work together on your Projects.))

Do we have a rough tech level to start at?

Are we working out of the actual state of Oregon, with the full range of tech from America in 1920, or are there other limits we should be aware of?

The country of Oregon. And yes, you have the full range of 1920 American technology. Both sides do.

Why is Oregon a country? The United States fragmented into several countries, most composed of several states(Oregon being one of two exceptions), after the legendary Politicizer was utilized.

How are the two groups supposed to communicate to their won team members? it just seems a little obtuse to me.

Via spoiler. Something like this.
Spoiler: West Oregon Only (click to show/hide)
Or this.
Spoiler: East Oregon Only (click to show/hide)

Once the test is complete and I turn this into a full game, each side will have their own thread and this thread will become the OOC.

If this isn't full I would actually consider joining this one. Whats the difference between west and east Oregan, philosophically and resource wise though ???

You might get your chance when the test is over, the full game will have 8 players, possibly 9 or 10 if I elect to add an "independent" scientist or two.

Well, you see, West Oregon believes that west is best and east is least, but East Oregon believes it's the other way around. West Oregonites tend to love puns, while East Oregonites despise them.

So basically they hate each other for no reason(blame the Politicizer), and have exactly the same resources(for now...).

Actions too. You wouldn't want your opponent to know what you're planning, after all, and you wouldn't want them to know how much progress you're making...

Note that if you spoiler your actions, your teammate can still read them.

To keep your teammate from reading your actions, you'll need to send it in via PM, which is free for a Standard Action but has the cost of a Standard Action if you want to do it with a Science Action.

I don't expect this to get competitive within teams for the moment, though. That will probably wait until the full game.
