What's at the bottom of the world?
« on: February 12, 2008, 03:00:00 am »

What happens if you dig down to the very lowest z-level? Is it just more ordinary rock? Can you dig a channel into the lowest level and create a chasm?

I believe it's just more rock.

Its just rock. You can't dig stairs down when you reach the bottom level; I would presume channels are likewise disabled.

Digging into Earth's Core would be hilarious.

If you dig deep enough you should reach dinosaurs.

Hey...   If you open up the demon pits to the outside world, would the sky above turn into the pit tiles like it does inside?

Yeah, HFS.  Puzzlemaker already found out the hard way, there was one other guy who didn't know what they were, but that was a while back, and everyone else here knows what they are and what they do.

I consider it one of those secrets everyone knows.  Still "Fun Stuff", but not all that "Hidden".

And it's not always on fire.

That'd be a fun feature - a small random chance for there to be veins of bone, as opposed to just ore/gems.

If you completely dig out the bottom level will it cause the entire world to end in a huge, catastrophic collapse?

Sadly, no.  The tiles on the very edge of the map cannot be mined out, and so will support the rest of the world above it.

However, if you dig out everything except for a single pillar on each level, place a collapsable support on the bottom level, and then dig out a channel around every layer above, then you could destroy everything.

What's at the bottom of the world?

Why, a creamy nougat center, of course.

This reminds me of a fortress I saw screenshots of back before the Z-axis... a mountain on stilts. As I recall he finished the game before replacing all the natural supports with artificial ones, which could then be linked to a lever and pulled (to see how long the mountain could float).
