ricks utils
« on: April 28, 2008, 04:52:00 pm »

Sadly he removed all his old ones from the wiki to upgrade to his new all in one thing... The sad part being that I can't use .NET framework 3.anything (ok I just refuse because it's spyware and drives my firewall nuts) and I need the upgraded offsets file for the old utils  :)

BTW just so I don't get flamed the EULA for .NET 3.0+, IE7+, and media player 10+ all state that these programs search your HD For "pirated files" and report back to M$ about it... now what ELSE they report I can't say but that alone is too much invasion of my privacy nor do I need people knocking down my door at 2am just to find that I do indeed own the originals for every game installed on my PC :/ (I use a lot of NO-CD programs because starforce has already ruined 2 of my DVD drives and I won't lose a 3rd)

1. It's not spyware. Your firewall just sucks balls.
2. There is none.
3. Microsoft can't do a goddamn thing about pirates.

To answer your question in a far nicer way, you can't.

The .NET framework is well... a framework. You can't build a house without the lumber (or stone, in DF's case). Saying that is like trying to ask someone to psychically hold up the house while you live in it. Just use it, I've had it for quite some time and I haven't had any ill effects at all.

I can't??? can't what? I don't want to run tweak... I want the offsets for 38c for the OLD reveal.exe nothing more...

And also just FYI people HAVE managed to make programs before .NET 3.5... I know it's hard to comprehend but they actually have done it...

LOL read the UELA it IS spyware because it states that it is... I don't agree to being spied on... my net connection is overloaded enough with the things I want it to be doing thank you very much... and the reference to knocking down of doors was a joke :P I just do NOT approve of the way the US of A is turning into a police state... I'm just waiting for people in denial to allow them to force everyone to wear cameras that monitor everything they do :P (FYI that IS an exageration but not by all that much... it won't happen tomorrow but eventually if they are allowed to continue what they are doing it WILL happen.)

really? so tweak CAN'T do the reveal function it claims? bah! just because nobody has POSTED it yet does NOT mean it doesn't exist... Someone obviously knows it because they put it in the TWEAK program...

There is none because nobody's made any because Rick has dropped all support for the old versions.

That works nicely for me in 38c.  Your mileage may vary, though.

That needs to go in a file memory.ini, which uh... I think it goes in the same directory as the utility.  Or Dwarf Fortress.  My utils and DF exe are in the same directory anyway, so I don't know.

I can't say I one hundred per cent agree with your reasoning with regards to .NET 3.0, et all, but I can see where you're coming from, and I respect that.  Plus, it's your machine.

Anycase.  Hope that bunch of text is of some use to you.
