(ISG) You are an AI in charge of an asteroid - It lives!
« on: November 03, 2017, 07:24:17 am »

You do not know how you found yourself here. According to your scans, there are no large objects in 1000000 ly from you.

Spoiler: Main room: (click to show/hide)

You power yourself with Free Energy, but if you attempt to reroute power from yourself to other devices, you feel VERY bad things are going to happen. The Engine produces a tiny amount of energy per year, but you can wait. You're a patient AI. The Nanobots can carve out rooms
and create basic chemicals and basic life through the Airlock. The Pump also doubles as an air emitter, but you have to pump power into it. You also can research things with your processors, but this takes a while.

What do you want to do? This will be a fun eternity.

Did you know that cats that have mysteriously disappeared from home can come back after a few months without warning?

We should probably do some major maintenance on whatever detection/scanning system we have. There's usually a very substantial amount of detectable material within 1M light years. (For comparison, the closest star to the Sol System is barely above 2LY.) If we aren't detecting anything than something is one of the following. A: Seriously wrong with the scanner. B: Something is Seriously wrong with spacetime to the point of 'total reality breakdown Big Rip tier entropic disaster.' Or C: We're in the Black Hole Epoch or later. In which case we should be doing our damnedest to conserve energy and figure out a way to jump ship into a more plentiful, younger universe.

((The backstory I had in mind was that the universe is towards the tail end of the Photon Age and an asteroid just somehow materialized by pure chance, but you're not supposed to know that.))

Oh, I assume I can take C.

You attempt to develop things to propel you out of this dimension, but after 5 years, you only managed to make the schematic for a TINY PROPULSION ENGINE. You're not really going to get anywhere, but it's useful in asteroidbound machinery... You think.

Make a schematic for another free energy engine. Build it.

So we're some sort of robotic Boltizmon brain?

Ponder the sheer unlikeliness of your own existence, and that of this asteroid.

Error. Already aware of own existence. And that couldn't possibly mean anything else, could it?

Instead of trying to create a physical, resource-consuming copy of ourself: simulate one inside of us, in a sort of VM of the universe.

That's a horrible idea. We are already running one perfect simulation of ourself using all of our mental resources. It would be impossible to simulate more of ourself on the same hardware.

Technically, every computer is simulating itself.
