I'm sure this won't work due to how display cases will be implemented, but wouldn't it be cool if you could link display cases like levers? That way when a kobold opens it to take the the beloved yak bone earring, it opens the floodgate and locks the room.

Id quite like this actually, though like a pressure plate it should be delayed rather than the close to instantaneous lever action.

From a adventurer viewpoint it should also be visible on inspecting the case to see that it does have mechanisms attached to it to give prior warning so the traps aren't unfair, though AI wont be able to discern this changes.

Not all thieves, its on a creature basis. The new artifact squads who will arrive with the intention of taking a object may not have [TRAP-AVOID], same goes for animal pests with only some of them being able to avoid traps on a creature by creature basis.

Kobolds most definitely would be able to sneak past a booby-trapped pedestal because they do have [TRAP_AVOID]

Well, why not? Just have it tied to their Observer skill, or something.
