So, my character is a powerhouse at this point in the game. My lord, though, is in a quite dire situation where his life is constantly at risk of death from a conspirators of a coup. As far as I know, my lord is the only one of his kind, & as such, I wish to protect him till the day I decide to take his place. My current sources tell that the main plotter of assassinating my lord is inside the town. I have gone through great lengths to find this leader with no avail. The villagers state to check the keep of my lord, which I have top to bottom.

This leads to my question: If I finish off the leader of the conspirators, will I end the attempt of taking my lords life? If so, how would I go about finding this leader other than going from house to house greeting and eliminating every elf I encounter?

I do very much care for my lords life, & would like an end to the assaults.

Not enough info, too much confusement. What exactly villagers say to ypu?
As far as i know, there are no "assasinations" in the game, there are only insurrections, which don't have a leader, and (in adventure mode, at least) result in people slaughtering other people, not people slaughtering a lord.
Also, if people really really hate you, they will constantly attack you in "ambushes" of "wrestlers". When village will run out of villagers, you will get ambushed by animals. But i never seen anything like that applying to NPC's.

Here is the order of actions that lead to this:

I come back to my keep. A group of elves are attacking my lord. My lord is heavily hurt, losing ability to walk. I kill the attackers. I butcher the attackers (without checking names). I inquire about any troubles from my lord. He says the following:

Canar (to the lord Icen Tokrionec): The Buff Bulb is at war with us.  The trouble started because of a dispute over the treatment of plants.
The lord Icen Tokrionec: The elf Stasost Hellmute is well-traveled and would probably have that information.
The lord Icen Tokrionec: Stasost Hellmute is my enemy.

From this point, I believe Stasost Hellmute is alive & an enemy to my lord. I ask villagers and my lord where I can find Stasost Hellmute:

The lord Icen Tokrionec: We are in Divednose.  Must be right around here somewhere.
The elf animal caretaker Lida Vinenaipiro: We are in Divednose.  Search first in the keep to the south.

I search the keep top to bottom, asking all elves for their name so I can end my lord's enemy. I find no elves by that name, & I come here...
About 20 minutes later I find this:

You sure you didn't butchered any elfs here?   
Try to ask lord about troubles, elf, etc. them tell him that elf is dead.
I don't know what exactly "he is my enemy" means, but i think it's rarely something that serious.(Anyone?)
