companion that refuses to die
« on: November 15, 2017, 09:17:48 pm »

so...I have a spearman companion who absouly refuses to die whatsoever. I just started a new game (human hammerer) and recruited a spearman to come help me, after leaving we got ambushed by 4 goblins, we drove then off but I noticed that he was on the ground and not getting up and checked his injuries...and hoooly crap, among other things, he has a torn open neck, a mutilated neck, his head was bruised and heavily bleeding, he even lost his left arm completely, so all he had was a shield, his left leg was complelty torn off and his right was bruised and cut open, I though we bleed out soon, but no, he just kept coming with me, crawling and bashing with his shield. even after fast traveling to a new town (to find new companions) he was still alive, just slowly crawling after me...he fucking refuses to die

Even after fast-travelling? Do you know that waiting and fast-travellling for a bit heal all except most serious injuries (bodypart missing, nerve damaged, spine broken)?
Yeah, totally usual thing.  :D

The best explanation I've heard for fast travel healing is that it cauterises wounds.  So basically, if you are bleeding, it stops the bleeding.  If you lose a limb, then the limb is gone, but you won't die after fast travelling.  However, crushed windpipes, internal organ failure, etc, etc will still kill you.  Or (as I found out once) if you are full of arrows and you take them all out at once you will bleed to death :-).  So it's still pretty impressive that he's survived after mangling his neck.

Normally in those circumstances I take them to the nearest town and conclude the agreement.  "It's for the best" we both agree, but if you look in Legends mode: "Urist McAdventurer cancels agreement on a whim".

UPDATE: we just cleared a bandit camp, and he's still fucking living, his head is now torn open and gushing blood, his body is torn and cut, and his left lung is bruised he just keeps following me, passing out every few seconds but still living, in light of his immortality, I have given him the nickname "the unkillable"

I bet when he loses all limbs he'll rack up an impressive kill-list by just rolling around and biting things.

Get him some armour if it's feasible and will not slow him down too much. You need to become a necromancer, so you can keep his severed head or skull around so he can kill even in death.

the unkillable has been killed....it is a sad day, he passed out while he were fighting some goblins, and the archer got a lucky shot, blowing his brain to bits. I destroyed the archer responsible, butchered him, and using his bones make a figurine of him (I have a laptop, so I can't take screenshots unforutaly) it reads: "this is a superior quality goblin bone figurine of dashrained "the unkillable" the human and 10 goblins, dashrained "the unkillable" is being mutilated by the 10 goblins. dashrained "the unkillable" is laughing.
