Since a vote for "do nothing because we'll just be outmatched for sure" is kind of depressing, have a possible design for next turn, to make our weaponry far, far more effective.

Gjallarhorn
When Ragnarok arrives, Gjallarhorn will sound. The Day of Death is here, we are its heralds, and our horns shall be numerous, their calls deadly. Through the use of brand-new room-temperature superconductors, the barrel weight and complexity of the Mjolnir coilgun is greatly cut down. An integrated, upgraded Huginn system capable of incredibly precise fire control and coil sequencing improves range and raw impact. Gjallarhorn will fire tungsten-cased slugs with superconducting cores, exploiting the Meissner effect for incredible boosts to projectile velocity. The superconductor cores will be closed circuits pumped full of electricity, to allow the Meissner effect to actually happen. The tungsten casings will allow the shells to punch through an atmosphere to strike ground targets, with the upgraded Huginn using data from both radar and groundside spotters to direct strikes.

Yeah, in hindsight, this was caused by a pretty yuge tactical oversight. If we wanna blockade planets after we win a fleet engagement we should equip our ITCs with some cheap weaponry or something.

holy fuck.

Next invention needs to be a fucking upgraded coil gun. It's been 5 turns.

We could be smashing them faster, but we have just been doing hp and armour.

We need some dps.

Actually this works.

This is my vote for next design phase.

Someone yell at me if I made a derp. But here is my suggestion to get started on with the EWAR stuff.

QS-EWS-07 'Baugrinn'
The Baugrinn Electronic Warfare System is an impressive assortment of transmitters and computing hardware, containing a highly advanced neural network with one purpose: To interact with and interfere with Ertex's Athena system. As the Athena is reliant on communication with other nodes, Baugrinn will have an easy avenue of attack, and from there it will be able to inflict all manners of mayhem on their system, such as feeding false sensor data, creating ghost targets, feeding Athena evasive data back to Huginn, and more. Baugrinn's transmitters are exceptionally powerful as well, enabling it to flood the frequencies Athena communicates on, in order to jam their ability to communicate with other nodes in the event that it isn't able to gain a foothold in their system. Of course, Baugrinn is designed to be integrated onto an Odin, or as part of an ITC's 'cargo'.

(Final Pre-Post Edit: The following is a bit of a mess of many pre-post edits. It may derp a bit.)

Overall, my assessment is that all their stuff on D is reliant on Athena. Their drones will become nonfunctional if they're exposed to jamming, and it should drop the effectiveness of their new tank as well. We might need a revision to get this in a ground deployable package, but it'd probably go a long way for winning us D. (Or maybe a revision towards upgrading our Mjolnir? It'd let us punch through their damn miracle material.. Or just a better infantry weapon, that shouldn't cost GPP, and we have enough big ticket GPP things. And it'd be so much easier to ship out to the troops on the ground. Although we already have to replace the tanks with the OM4 variant sooo...)

Baugrinn wouldn't help us at A. They aren't fielding any Athena stuff. Sure, their new rifles can hook into nodes, but they don't have nodes there. Anyway, we'd need to send more tangible equipment to win. Tempted to send a OM4 plated ITC, and try to stealth drop Heimdallr's.

At F? I don't think it'd be enough on its own to swing the fighting back in our favor. Stall, maybe, probably not though. But definitely not win, not alone.

Overall plan suggestion is break the ground stalemate at D, and mop up at either A or F; allowing us to re-direct those forces to the other planet to win there. The problem is, that their 5th unit just respawned, and is fully capable of punting the scales badly for us on its own.

I recommend improving our coilguns over AI because AI will be harder to improve and make viable on the battlefield, I suspect. More destruction, however, is NEVER a bad plan* and so we should always endeavor to blow more things into possibly-faintly-radioactive splinters.

Also, if they can squeeze instant-tank-murdering out of a LASER, we can CERTAINLY pull off the same thing ourselves.

Gjallarhorn
When Ragnarok arrives, Gjallarhorn will summon the very gods to their deaths. That day is here, we are its heralds, and our horns shall be numerous, their calls deadly. Through the use of brand-new room-temperature superconductors based on the superconductors we have used for so long, the barrel weight and complexity of the Mjolnir coilgun is greatly cut down. An integrated, upgraded Huginn system capable of incredibly precise fire control and coil sequencing improves projectile velocity, which means more range and far more destructive power.
Gjallarhorn (Normal): (1+3)=4: Below Average
The Gjallarhorn is an upgrade to the old Mjolnir coilgun. Maybe not as big of an upgrade as we hoped, but still. It uses newly-designed "Warmish Superconductors" which operate at temperatures of 250K, reducing the weight and power requirements of the weapon a small amount, and slightly increasing projectile velocity. The new slugs must be chilled and charged before being fired, which requires a somewhat complex setup, but it does result in an increased muzzle velocity. Not as much as was projected, unfortunately- but still a fairly respectable 50% increase, on top of the 10% offered by the improved barrel.
The orbit-to-surface capability... exists, yes, but requires fairly precise angles in order to do appreciable amounts of damage, and even then suffers from poor accuracy, as Huginn is just not up to the task. We need total control of an orbit in order to be able to set up the appropriate angles without being disturbed, in which case our troops would be able to call down orbital fire if they had the necessary communication equipment. Without such equipment, the best they can manage is to relay coordinates of stationary positions.

The good news is that the Gjallarhorn does not cost anything extra compared to the Mjolnir, and can be refitted to existing Odins and Lokis without cost. We can also deploy the Hrungnir using a downsized Gjallarhorn, although the ammunition-cooling-and-charging equipment doesn't fit in the tank, meaning it will still fire regular slugs.

It is now the Revision Phase of SY107.

Finally RTSC
No, really.
I mean it this time.
Designed as an upgrade to the Gjallarhorn and our fusion plants, this new room-temperature superconductor will superconduct at actual honest-to-goodness room temperature, of the sort you might find in rooms occupied by human beings. Not like the Warmish Superconductors, which work in rooms that you might find occupied by the Abominable Snowman. These superconductors will decrease the cost, complexity, size, and mass of all our coilguns and fusion reactors, and allow our new superconductor shot to be charged in the factory, since electricity will circulate, theoretically, inside a superconductor for ~100000 years at minimum.

Finally RTSC (Easy): (4+2)+1=7: Superior Craftsmanship
How technology advances. Where once we struggled to make even chilly superconductors, the lessons we have learnt over the years mean that creating a "Room Temperature" superconductor was a walk in the park. I use quotation marks, because any room hot enough to cause Lorfium to stop superconducting would be a rather unpleasant place to live. It is, in fact, capable of operating at temperatures of up to 500K. Now, it will still require cooling in certain environments, but for many applications cooling will be unnecessary.
Miraculously, Lorfium can be synthesized remarkably easily, using fairly simple equipment, at astonishingly low costs. The civilian applications were deemed sufficiently valuable that the method has been distributed publicly, and the benefits are tangible- already our industry is adopting the new material to astonishing effects.

Lorfium has been integrated into our Stardust reactors (slightly increasing power output and decreasing weight), our coilguns (further increasing projectile velocity and reducing weight), and the slugs for the Gjallarhorn, which are now available for the Hrungnir as well.
In addition, the expansion of industry increases our production capacity by 2GPP/1SPP.

It is now the Strategy Phase of SY107.

I step out for FIFTEEN MINUTES and Nemonole's named the RTSC which really didn't need a name.

It is all his fault, every bit of it.

Quote from: Plan Apocalypse
Start: 3.5 SPP + 10.5 (Odins, used) + 9 (Assorted, used)
Group One,  Action: Get Recycled
One ITC (No Doves) At Quillus
One ITC (With Doves) At Quillus
One set of Doves (Not the ITC) At Quillus
Two Lokis At Quillus
+ 7 SPP

Group Two,  Action: Attack A, hold orbit, bombard and deploy troops if possible/necessary
6 Odin-class with all the bells and whistles (It's a long list now)
(Odin, Thought, Memory, Geri, Freki, Sleipnir)
1 ITC
---2 Heimdallr powered armor
- 21 SPP (Odins) - 2 SPP (ITC) = 0 remaining

Darn, I hope they concentrate over A with all their Cuddlefishes. We'd have a numerical advantage, plus (I think?) radar stealth, and we retain the metamaterials advantage, and now our guns are more powerful as well. Plus any change on the surface of A is going to let us win the ground, and our Odins can produce a limited bombardment if necessary.
