An interaction to make dwarfs run away ?
« on: December 11, 2017, 03:34:48 am »

Hi !
I would like to know if it is possible to create an interaction that would make the affected dwarfs flee ?
I already tried a lot of things, my last attempt was this :

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

According to the wiki, having a low VIOLENT should make the dwarfs run away, but they never did during my test in arena and always keep attacking the creature with this interaction.

Press "m" in the arena to turn on morale, I.e running away.

Mostly phone-posting, sorry for any typos or autocorrect hijinks.

Low VIOLENT doesn't make them run away as far as I know (maybe it makes them less likely to get into fights in the first place).  BRAVERY works better.

Well, on this page : http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Personality_trait#Facets
You can see for VIOLENT under 39 that "This does not affect a soldier's will to fight, but will cause civilians to flee from danger.", while nothing is said for BRAVERY. Anyway you can see in my interaction that I also tried to give the target a low BRAVERY but still, nothing happened.

Actually, it looks like the combat AI has been changed in the new version.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to do the opposite of what you're doing - making animals that attack creatures bigger than them.  Giving them high BRAVERY and VIOLENT doesn't work anymore...

Would a [CE_FEEL_EMOTION:EMOTION:FEAR] do anything useful here?

Nope, I tried it too but didn't work. :/

Aw that means a big part of the wiki is outdated. And it will be a problem for some of your creatures, like the Ichneumon.
