KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS Discussion Thread
« on: December 29, 2017, 05:37:57 pm »

Quote from: The Successor's Prophecy
The king of creation fell out of heaven, usurped by a seven headed beast. But the old king shall choose a new, and he will ignite the third conquest. He will be flanked by a white and a black flame, his coming will be followed by 108 burning stars. He will bear the terrible heat of the voice in his brow, the mark of his lordliness. He will face the beast - and he will annihilate it. He will wield the terrible blade of want, and the pillars of heaven will quake with his coming. And his name - his name will be - KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS.

Do you like violence? How about gnosticism? Buddhist-Hindu inspired art and worldbuilding? Making deals with the devils? An abundance of violence? Where's Waldo-style murals? Cutting down the gods in an orgy of self-serving war? Bad decisions? Curious uses of liquor? Standing with blade leveled against an uncaring universe? Waiting for updates? Sailor Moon?

Violence?

KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS
is a webcomic so well made it's more akin to a graphic novel publication. I'd ignored it for a long time, which was a horrible mistake but also probably kept me from going mad waiting for Abbadon to make more of it. At the time of its post the comic is on winter hiatus, so it's as good a time as any to make sure you all read it and then must suffer along side me waiting for pages. To Abbadon's credit, the time-to-detail ratio is probably better than...anything I've ever seen before, really.

Abbadon's tumblr contains lots of lore and creator trolling, and if you like KSBD's world you can get an RPG based off of it for a month of Patreon support. I also highly recommend reading the comment sections of every page of the comic, as there's a degree of viewer interaction in them.

Now go, you smiling slaves of YISUN, and reach heaven through violence.

I was wondering why we didn't have a thread for this. Probably the update schedule.

Really should read all of it someday soon.

I suppose it does fit better here than in the general lumped together webcomics thread, and yeah the new multi-page-per-week trend was another case like Toady's where getting a patreon so people could throw cash at him makes a fuckton of sense.

Funny you mentioned how you "wish I'd found this later so I wouldn't have to wait" though, apparently been suffering through those waits for going on four years soon, fuck...

I am fully in favor of killing six billion demons. However only about 62,979,636 people voted for Trump. We may have to start a breeding program.

Oh hey, Scenery Porn: The Webcomic. I really need to get around to catching up with KSBD. Think it's been at least a year and a half since the last go.

Any case, if for some strange reason someone needed more encouragement to go check it out, yeah, it's pretty great. What I recall the plot up to the point I reached is even pretty alright, if for some reason just staring at all the pretty pictures isn't enough. Which. Staring at the pretty pictures is totally enough. Stuff is cheerfully gratuitous pretty often, which is real nice.

PTW

Best webcomic I've ever come across.  Haven't fully caught up on it yet.

Thanks to Frumple for pointing me to it in the Ameripol thread, of all places.

Oh, so we have one of these now? Neat.
So currently Alison seems to be having some problems, and isn't finding ways to deal with them.

Hey, repression with a splash of mild schizo-crisis is kinda sorta like dealing with stuff!

How can you defeat your own power? If you were able to defeat your power you would be power yourself, and thus not have to defeat it!

Let us cut God to see if He bleeds! We should have made this thread ages ago. KSBD is one of my favorite webcomics.

I remember having browsed that years ago ._.
Then now that I'm back, I remember all the lore (and goodness all that lore :D) as if it was much of the mythology I put in mind-but-cannot-recall-directly.

I'm glad now though, being a bit older, to understand the comments section--it is partly lore commenters (and they are very consistent, also with awesome names and avatars to link them), and possibly readers. :D Much like the Tale of the Silver Prince//Kassardis, those bits are nice to see.

E: This is good that there is a thread like this.

I wonder what hindu people think about this webcomic.  I know most Christians seem to be OK with fictionalized versions of their own religion.

Anyway... PTW, but have this proverb.  If you should meet god on the road... kill him.

Far as I'm aware stylized or explicit expies, or outright appropriation, of religious iconography and whatnot is pretty common in fiction from the areas in question. Tends to be a good bit more explicit than with christian stuff, too, which is probably unsurprising considering the metaphysics and popularity of some the characters and works related to the beliefs (also the age doesn't exactly hurt for accumulating stuff what is in good shape to be yoinked). Hindu in particular is also (generally, individual sects vary) pretty chill about that kind of thing, insofar as I've noticed.

... that said, isn't that proverb (at least initially) buddhist? I'm like 80% sure that proverb is buddhist. There's definitely a version that is, anyway.
