Armageddon Squadron
« on: January 09, 2018, 02:30:26 pm »

Armageddon Squadron is a system where mothership-deployed drones are deployed to obliterate hostile forms. Typically, a single primary objective is deployed along with one to several secondary objectives. Some Armageddon platforms are optimised for different tasks, but most of you will be kept in a standard platform until your Animus shows potential in another platform. Platforms will hold randomly generated modifications, as a result of the slight variance in production, resulting in anything from Stallinium wings to built in nuclear self destructs. It is also of note that the Requisitions Network is not perfect, and may actually provide a completely different platform then intended if you are (un)lucky. In short, your equipment is somewhat random, although you can somewhat self determine later.

After your inevitable demise, the Animus Projector will send you back to the Mother ship, to be loaded back into another Armageddon-specified platform and sent out once more to fight, to repeat until the primary objective is completed, at which point the Mothership recalls all craft, or detonates them, and assigns a letter rating to all Animus for their overall preformance.

Typically, the Animus that operates Armageddon platforms are often described as insanely xenocidal and patriotic, this is both the result of the Battlefield networks specific programming, and the repeated horrors of war they are faced with. Act however you want, but acting within theme of being utterly homicidal warmachines with nothing to lose but a tick on the death-count will give you more attention by the Battle-Net. Wasting assets is banned from your thought process, so you cannot waste assets willingly.

Drones have three priorities, beyond which nothing else comes close to mattering. Except when it does.
  • Complete Primary objective
  • Complete Secondary Objective
  • Protect Mother ship.

Platforms are as every bit as expendable as bullets or missiles (Despite what the Battle-Net says.), but the enemy does not have this boon, for they are more primitive. Although they deploy more lethal, faster and sometimes powerful forces, Animus-bound frames as every bit numerous as the mineral stores of the MotherShip. (Basically unlimited.)

Spoiler: Other Information (click to show/hide)

In a typical turn, you would post your actions in bold, your messages to a particular character underlined (with their name) and discussion with fellow Battleframes in colored "quotes" (Pick a color that fits you and stick with it.). On the very bottom of your post that includes your Action, you post a spoiler containing your sheet. The most important thing is simple; live and die. Over, and over, and over. Have fun.

Are the three priorities equally important or is there a hierarchy?

[snip]

Although the original intent of the Battle-Net was to have the priorities important in ascending order (1>2>3), the fluidness of the Animus has resulted in almost all of the Animus's priorities being fluid. Follow any which one you think would be useful, but think about if anyone important is watching before you meander off for your own self-gain.

Your Animus has been processed and is Greenlighted for Aero-Space Bound Battle-Frames. Mag-Rails are deactivated until two more Animus Pilots are Green-Lighted.

In short, the frame you are equipped with is the Talon. A standard frame, however, Requsitions Network has seen fit to provide an above average maneuvering system, allowing you to commit to an acrobatic maneuver that will throw off missiles, while still being able to use your main weapons.
Your Frame is designated Below. You do not have to do anything with this right now unless you post an action with it.

St. Computer Network (Adv. Silicon)
Moras Pounder Machine Gunx2 [200][200] (Magnesium propellant, High Explosive Munition)
Side-Winder Anti-Fighter MIssile x4 (Solid Rocket, Tracking, Armor Piercing.)

What is your endgame here? Mastering unusual forms of platforms for our greater good though personal versatility!
Do you prefer to think of yourself as a soldier, or a revolutionary? Well, technically, I’m cannot be sure if my information processing can truly be called thinking. But, anyway, I prefer being considered a soldier.
Existence is variable, with each possibility understandable and masterable!

EDIT: Whoops, didn't notice the whole flying part. Well...hmm. Not exactly sure what I'm able to do. I guess I'll analyze my compatriots, to understand their deviations from the basic platform model.

"Armagedden Squadron grinds through experimentally "versatile" platforms. Let us see how this platform plays. -- Battle-Net

As a note, this is an Aero-Space dogfighting game, Ground-pounders may be ferried, but you will not be deployed as one unless you happen to be a big stawmpy Mech. (BSM)

Please modify your post with an action that you will commit during or before you are deployed. This is where you can ask the three big guys for something or maybe something else.

Your Animus has been processed and is Greenlighted for Aero-Space Bound Battle-Frames. Mag-Rails are deactivated until another Animus Pilots is Green-Lighted.

The Frame you are equipped with is the Iron-Bearer, a Standard Frame with 2 Modifications, one of which appears to have been installed by ATLAS. The first of which is a modification to the Standard Moras, namely for the fact that there are three of them, They overheat after an extended operation but are otherwise identical to the Moras Pounder of the times two variety.

ATLAS is currently welding a large box that ticks softly into your frame, whispering a lullaby to it while occasionally glaring at you for intruding its private moment.
A new object shows up on your internal diagnostic.
"Freight Container, 3.38 Kilograms of Nano-Robotic contraband Warmachines, inactive.
Several warnings clutter your internal controller, warning you not to shake the box, or apply heat, electrical current, electromagnetic or radioactive hazards to it. Your internal audio sensors detect a soft ticking sound emanating from it, and connecting to an external camera reveals a sticker on the box, in an undecipherable ancient language.

An interestingly abhorrent personality,  ATLAS will be interested when he figures out where the fiction and non-fiction starts to violently clash.

Your permission to test organic samples has been denied, sitck to prime directives.

Your Animus has been noted with one or more significant deviations, but it has been Greenlighted for Aero-Space Bound Batle-Frames. Mag-Rails are active, all pilots will shortly launch.

The Frame you are equipped with is the Shredder, a modified Mining vessel equipped with two ripper blades and a set of magnetic harnesses designed to enrapture enemy fighters.

Quote from:  Light Mk2 "Shredder"
St. Battery
Extensive Thrusters (Cold-Gas)
St. Computer Network (Trans-Dimensional)
2 Ripper Blades (Cutting, Melee Range, Absurdly Deadly.)
Mag-harness (Tractor beam, Magnetic.)
Side-Winder Anti-Fighter Missile x2
Moras Pounder Machine Gun x 1 (Light, Magnesium Propellant, Inert Munition)

Turn001:Mag-Lev Launch

Suddenly launched forward, each and every single fully built frame is skidded across the hull of the Mothership and launched forward towards the Enemy Force. Hundreds of individual Drones are lept, and a couple is ripped apart as the maglev lines malfunction, sending the Animus back for round two. The rest of the force is headed towards the Enemy a Battle-Cruiser (large), armed with a large fighter force, this is the expeditionary force of the enemy, and is lightly armed, but filled with relatively large amounts of fighters. The first heated battle is Three Cog-BattleFrames against a force of 6 Free-Furlers.

Free-Furlers are a simple craft, with a manned cockpit, a single machine gun, and an escape seat so that pilots may be rescued. Bonus points will neither be assigned nor detracted for ramming Escapees unless directly stated by a Secondary objective.

The Primary objective of this engagement is to destroy the Battle Cruisers anterior Grav Plate, which will cripple the craft and allow the MotherShip to commence Mag-Cannon Bombardment.

Req-Net has a surplus on munitions. Empty every single one of your guns before the end of the mission and return first to complete his Secondary objective. He does not have any room for half-empty magazines, and will promptly eject you if you come back with a half-empty magazine on your Mora Machine guns or your Side-Winders.

Kashyyk

Briefly connecting to the Motherships Data array system, you are overwhelmed by the immense information, and your Antennae node begins furiously overheating. Before your able to rapidly eject, several critical junctions of your computer hardware were melted, decreasing your processing capacity and cutting you off from the rest of the network as your commune system has been disconnected. Don't worry, your Animus Ejector still works fine. Targets that your enfeebled mind have detected has been jotted in your spoiler sheet. You think you will be reliably accurate at ranges two or below now. The little data that you had managed to acquire syncs up with your targetting Relay, and you know which Free-Furler is which, as denoted by a number in parenthesis.

Of the dozens and dozens of individual flights, you look at your teammates of THE Armageddon Squadron. You notice one of them catching fire, and you briefly contemplate joining him and catching fire. You don't but, your battery is still a little excited at the thought of lighting on fire. The box of bots is still ticking fine, nothing to worry yet. Targets you detect have been noted below in the spoiler. You think you can fire off an extended burst at ranges of two, or a light burst at ranges of three. Sidewinders might work as well.

Fire at the Northeast target with extended fire. When overheating becomes more of a concern, shift to light burst that alternately rests one of the gatlings. Call out to teammates that I will aim for them, if such communication is possible and does not moderately risk the enemy overhearing.

Diagnose self-analysis software. Assigned Hardware report discrepancy detected
Conflicts:
 - Up. Thrusters/Maneuvering (Lit-Fusion, Barrel Roll) vs St. Thrusters (Cold-Gas (1 speed))
 - Moras Pounder Machine Gunx2 [200][200] (Magnesium propellant, High Explosive Munition) vs Moras Pounder machine Gun x 3 [200][200][200] (Magnesium Propellant, High Explosive Munition, Overheats)
 - void vs Freight Container (Nanorobots)

Turn 002: Racked bolts

The local area is aglow with heat signatures as both sides are launching wide births of hazardous accelerating munitions across both sides. munitions bend around both star ships, narrowly missing every time a long range shot is fired. alredy, Frame casualties reach ten individual lost frames.

Current hardware parameters have been correctly matched to shipbound motherware, hardware internal acceleration activated following internal systems check.

Free-Furler #002 commits to an evasive manuver, brely ble to dodge the Side winder before something inside its internal systems fail, and the pilot pre-maturlly eject. The missile, still filled with enough fuel to sweep back finds a lock on the abandoned Furler and breaks it apart.

Free-Furler #003 is hit with a glancing blow, but manages to keep going and fires a burst of machine gun fire towards your direction. An evasive roll is commuted milliseconds too late, and an internal Magazine for a Mora is hit, which promptly detonates. your entire starboard side is eviscerated, but you are still mission capable for a few short seconds.

Until you spun out, crashing directly into Free-Furler #001 who also spun out to make an attempt of avoiding you. Your Super-Magnetic Energy Storage system detonates, and both ships are immediately compacted together into a ball of Metal and gore.

Your Animus Ejector succeeds in ejecting you from the craft, with only minor fundamental corruption to your base code.

You have two options to choose from for Frames; A General Mark-II "Talon" that has been used, or an lost & found Mark-I "Bean Can". Because you have committed the first mission kill of the operation by technicality, you have earned the service pin of professionalism for dying heroically. Mag-Rail will send your next Battle-Frame to the same position it was, do not worry.

Turning your guns to Target 002(?), you commit to a full burn as your assault weapons are in  full tilt assault ont he enemy craft. The Autocnnons rip the Free-Furler apart, and the sheer volume of fire overpowers the enemy ships thrust, sneding it backwards and spinning. It promptly explodes, the pilot rocketing out of his broken fighter with thin stream trails of blood and without legs. Oops. With a dejected hiss, your Moras disable themselves for a short while because the cobalt steel barrels are glowing a hot white.

The enemy three ticks south of you turns its weapon towards you, which promptly jams with multiple echoing space noises that sound like clicks. The awkwardness is palpable.

Activating the Magharness, you are flung towards Target 002. The Enemy. the Ship executes a deft manuver, barely scraping its hull with the Rippers blades, and causing you to get flung away, and it begins reoriintating while you scramble to commit to a second pass.

Magnetically accelerated slugs slide past by you one by one, as both targets begin to play a game of chicken.

A pair of slugs slam into your MOras weapon, ripping out the reloading mechanism and almost detonating its magazine.

The Magnetic Harness is firmly accelerating you towards them, and hte blades begin grinding through metal as the craft is caught in the jaws of saws.

Several moments later, the pilot ejects the craft as it gets ripped apart. Disenganging hte red hot saws, you back off and glance around. It seems the remaining craft are attempting to retreat to cover the Mother Ship. The shrapnel flying around from your destructive actions ping off your hull, and the metal shed is reveling.

Approaching the Prime Ship, Shrapnel passes nearby as other Battle Frames continue their fights. You launch a single side-winder towards the Grav- Plate. It flies for a long while, before the gravitational plate forces the missile away, flying away in a useless manner. Just as you enter Three Range, Point defense beam lances begin rotating towards your direction and...

Miss entirely, as your craft executes a deft maneuver, bringing you closer. Close enough to fire off your main weapons without being swatted away by the Grav Plate.

Whatever the nanomachines are, you dont have direct access to them, only access to the box they are in, which si awkwardly welded onto your hull. You cound open the box using a built in command, but then the nano machines would be free, although hey wont be much of a problem if they haven't burrow into your ship yet.
