Is it possible? What's the best way? Android remotely
« on: January 09, 2018, 04:51:48 pm »

I would like to play DF on my android phone while at work.  How viable is it?  I read a load of threads from a few years back but I don't know if any still work / what's the best known method.

Appreciate any help on this - I'm not picky, but I would love it if I could get the dfremote equivalent from iOS to Android.  No problem if I have to pay a one time fee either.

install on Linux box at home, enable text-based graphics. start a gnu screen session and launch df within. use Android app ConnectBot to ssh to your home Linux machine, and then do "screen -x" to reattach to your gnu screen session.

What if he's not on Linux?

Mostly phone-posting, sorry for any typos or autocorrect hijinks.

Then he can download it for free and run it off a flash drive or another partition or a virtual machine.

Then he'll have to find another way. Which probably sucks more. :)

Note: I described the least crappy way to play DF remotely on your Android device. It's the way I do it. It is still pretty crappy.

Maybe Teamveiwer would be better than printing text mode? It would work with Windows and Mac.

I might give the Linux VM suggestion a shot, it probably is the best option.
