Why? To my eyes, it seems you necro things because you like the reactions, not because you're actually doing something that needs an OP.

No, I necro stuff so as people can read things which never entered the hall of legends. I don't usually  necro in this part of the forums.
Also, I want to name it 'does anyone habe a somethingawful forums account, so as to access the saves.

I guess it's time to reassess what happened during the last month:
- we want original BM saves, but there is no obvious way to get them
- all links leading to files uploaded 10 years ago are super dead
- e-mails and forum messages were sent to former BM players (list in spoiler)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
- we got 3 replies so far: Keyboard Fox via e-mail (said he'd take a look and message me again if he finds it, no follow up though), Locus (checked old drives in search for the saves, no luck) and Bremen (the PC he used back then is long gone, he doubts that those saves still exist)
And I guess that's pretty much it folks. I don't think there is anything else that can be done in this matter. I invite anyone willing to re read what was posted so far in case we missed something.

Why doesn't someone just start a new LP using a 2D version of the game? Boatmurdered is a fun read, but actually playing the fort would probably just shatter some illusions, not to mention there wouldn't be much to do that those guys hadn't already done.

I'd sign up for a .23a game. Having a bunch of players that have only played the newer versions of DF give it a go would probably only add to the fun.

Well, it's no LNP, but you might want to sign up for ‼THROWBACK FORTRESS‼ then.

I know I've been necroing threads a lot over the last few hours, but I think I found somthing of possible value and interest.

I might be wrong with this, sonce my wifi won't connect to somethingawful forums for various reasons, but I found it while doing some digging.
*Fingers crossed*
