Edge of Oblivion
« on: February 11, 2018, 12:31:14 am »

The year is 2156, borders have changed drastically. Currently three nations control the majority of the world’s land mass. What hasn’t changed from the past is that each of these nations holds a gun to the others heads. Each waiting for one to pull the trigger on the other.

The three nations are as follows:
-Pycb (Rus’), or what remains of the Soviet Union and most of Asia.
-Jamhuri (The Republic), the majority of the African continent as well as Turkey and the Middle East.
-The New Holy Roman Empire, consisting of England, Western Europe, and what remains of the Americas.

Anywhere that these superpowers border each other, there is conflict to find. Though in recent decades each nation has delved deeper into funding WMDs as a means to scare the other nations into submission.

While all of this is happening there are also still smaller nations that remain outside of this war. As well as private corporations that prefer to keep their hands out of this strife. Some believe that there is a resistance group that has formed which plans on toppling these three great nations to bring about international peace.

You wake from a deep sleep, to what at first seemed like a high pitched whirring and flashing of lights. As your eyes focused and your ears adjusted it turned into the sound of emergency alarms and sight of emergency lights in the room spinning in their mounts, throwing light around the room.

Your head throbs as you begin looking around the room. It appears to be a hospital room but there are no windows. The door to the room is closed and you appear to be alone. Around you there are many jars of assorted medical supplies as well as a operating tray next to the table you are on. It has three different vials on it.

Looking at yourself you see that you are wearing a hospital gown. Moving the gown out of the way you see that you have multiple, closed, incisions along your arms, legs, and chest. As well there is a metal device on the inside of your left forearm.

The metal device is lifted out of your skin but only just, and there is a groove down the center of it for something to be inserted. There are three glowing dots on the top of the device near your wrist.

As you sit up, you feel that your whole body is sore. Not just where the incisions are but everywhere your body aches.

Examine every thing in the room.
This. Also do a mental checkup. Memories present? Name? Age? Do you know how you got here? Any buildup memories? Do you recognize the mechanical bits?

Observing the room around you a little closer you notice a few more things in better detail.

The jars on the counter across from you contain; cotton balls, tongue depressors, alcohol swabs, bandages, gauze, and cotton swabs.

You notice one of the cabinets over the counter has a glass door, behind which you can see multiple vials of medicines as well as pills and empty syringes.

There is a sink on the counter with what you assume to be a soap dispenser and an antibacterial wash rag.

You notice on the floor next to the rollers for the surgery tray is a biohazard waste bin. Inside there are a few used needles, many bloodied pieces gauze, and other various surgical waste items.

You observe the tray next to you, on it there are three vials. Each has a code printed onto it with a square item scan code. They read; A39-265, B04-002, and C01-103.

After looking at everything closer, you attempt to remember what is happening. How did you get here?

You can not remember your name, you think you are a citizen… no a soldier of the Rus’. You think you are 21 years old at the oldest but you’re unsure.

As to where you are or why you are where you are, you have no idea. Your last memory that you can currently think of is being at a bar on the last military base that you were stationed at. You remember celebrating something important, and not just with your enlisted friends but also some officers that you don’t remember too well.

You are taken back from your memories by the sound of the alarms, back to being alone in this strange hospital room…

Search the room for a trash can if there is not one grab the biohazard bin and dump it out then grab the cotton balls, alcohol swabs, bandages, gauze, any pill that looks useful, and the three vials and put them in the bin, like a make shift first aid box then look out of the door to see if any one is around.

Check for identifying features. Tattoos, uniforms, genders, badges, dental features... or lack there of. People typically stick to their own, was there any prevailing features of the people you recall celebrating with? Check your nails and any shaved sections of hair to attempt to discern if you have been out for long. Smell for food.

Your memory of that night is very fuzzy. You remember one person who you think may have been a close friend. His name, Yuri, comes back to you. He was the same rank as you, had brown eyes, and blonde hair. He had a word tattooed on the back of his left hand but you can't remember what. You think he may have been smoking in your memory but you're not sure.

He seems to be the only person in that memory that you can put a name to. The rest are a haze. You do remember that Yuri left your company not too long after the officers appeared though. That seems to be all you can remember.

Search the room for a trash can if there is not one grab the biohazard bin and dump it out then grab the cotton balls, alcohol swabs, bandages, gauze, any pill that looks useful, and the three vials and put them in the bin, like a make shift first aid box then look out of the door to see if any one is around.

There is a waste bin on the floor by the counter. You empty its contents and fill it with the contents of the jars, most of the pills in the cabinet, and the three vials. As well as several vials from the medicine cabinet with several clean needles.

(I will include an inventory in the next post)

Now that you have your "makeshift first aid kit", you decide to peak out the door.

As you look out you see that there are alarms going off in the hall as well. Then you see one thing that makes you take a double take, a smear of blood against the wall to the left about twenty feet from your door.

You can hear someone moaning in pain in the same direction and sure enough sticking your head just a little further out the door you spot a man in a lab coat laying on the ground. There is quite a bit of blood on his clothes. He does not seem to know that you are there.
