Haldur waits with seemingly infinite patience as well, scanning the roads below. He seems to be enjoying the growing chill without any signs of discomfort.

You spend the night, using the smokeless fire to keep yourself from being seen

Thanks to the elf, you make the give off little light but plenty of heat to last through the chilly air.

You don't see much overnight, even taking watch, but in the very early hours of the morning, you're awakened by movement along the path. You spot five bodies moving along the path.

Goblins

You spot your quarry, what does the party do?

Jee wilikers, I think Highmax is near invulnerable, must have been dunked in the river styx like achilles was.
Just make sure he wears a boot.

First making sure his fellows have also noticed the goblins, Gawain speaks quietly despite the distance between them and their quarry.

We can let them have their fun raiding and follow them back, or we can attack now and get answers concerning the location of their base from a prisoner. I favour the latter, but I have to remember I'm part of a group, so....?

Haldur grunts sourly at the thought of torture, but then shrugs. "Let's not count our goblins before we catch them. I'll do my best to only partially smash them instead of fully squash them."

He pulls his massive two-handed maul over his shoulder and loosens his neck, muttering to himself in Dwarvern.

[Dwarvern]"Oh Soul Forger, on the anvil of war am I shaped. In the heat of battle am I tempered. In the blood of your enemies am I quenched. In your Name, I fight."

Prayers completed, he waits with tense patience for the others to make what preparations they need to before they join the fight.

You start to make your way down the side of the hill to make your way down to sneak up on the goblins. Miscria steps on a huge branch, but the goblins still dont notice, as you spot a caravan on its way. They're too distracted by their own target to worry about you.
