# solid rock
I support
- floor
+ door
Q beast

Side view of a cave-in trap.

The beast enters from bottom right, and walks to bottom left. Then it encounters a door so it stops to destroy the door. A dwarf pulls the lever. The support breaks. The floor falls. You can see the beast is crushed when the dust settles. This doesn't even spill blood.

Cavein Trap is more simple than I thought.
Now I wonder if I can combine my two ideas.

Does height matter for the cavein trap? Does it need to be as tall as shown above or can it be maybe shorter?

Also, how do people rearm the cavein trap? Im thinking just construct a new floor and then deconstruct the part that connects it to anything else than the support. Is this correct?

1 z level  fall is enough.

You also need to rebuild support, lever, and link both, snd the door underneath.

Well you can't reload it with solid rock unless you want to build some kind of rad AF obsidian caster.

I usually load them with constructed walls. They don't instakill but they tend to massively pulp anything they hit.

I don't think it's possible, even with obsidian casting. Obsidian casting makes natural obsidian walls; when natural walls fall, they are still intact when they land, so you'd have to dig out the obsidian once you've used it.
