Dwarves not butchering pitted animals?
« on: March 17, 2018, 09:19:08 pm »

So, I built a tower that goes from above the surface to a corpse stockpile some 10 Z deep, made to ensure that no body parts fly off, yet the animal is killed with style. They still do not butcher them. Why?

Probably because the animals were tame. Tame animals are butchered only of killed through slaughter (in the butcher's shop, not the battle field).
Also, corpse stockpiles are used for corpses of sapients, and butcher shops take corpses for butchering from refuse stockpiles anywhere as well as any locations rather close to the shop (30 tiles?, 20, 40?). Note that a refuse/corpse sub stockpile is not the same as a corpse stockpile.

Oh well. It'll make a nice POW execution tower.

Only if you're prepared to fight the ones that escape.

There will be a backup magma floodgate just in case. :P
