how do AI controlled forts behave?
« on: March 19, 2018, 07:17:25 am »

i guess you know how you can leave a fort and do a new embark. but what i wonder about is how the fort will proceed then.
do the dorfs use airlocks? do they call everyone in during a siege and close the necessary gates/bridges? or do they just keep existing? is it possible to build forts that survive 10 years after you left them?

The work like world gen forts -- i.e. nothing that you've done counts for anything, really.  Not sure with the new raiding code whether skills and equipment are taken into account if you raid them, though.  But basically it's all just fudged when you are not in control

so you mean, as long as i am not laying my eyes on the actual site, it is not actually active, but numbers and changes etc are only estimated? so the architekture will not be expanded upon and they won't mine anything?

If a retired fortress survives for the next 50 years and manages to prosper, will they create any new hillocks or conquer sites?

Yeah, won't expand anything. Maybe will change some time later (a few years), I don't know.
