Johiah, question: Can we get a bit more information about how spells work in this universe? Notably, is line of sight important? For example, this spell:
Quote
Gushyin: This relatively simple cantrip takes basic light and noisemaker spells, combines them, and turns them up to eleven. The caster focuses their intentions on an area up to 25m away and casts the spell. Three seconds later, the targeted area will be assaulted with a bright flash of light and loud bang, roughly equivalent to a flashbang grenade (perhaps slightly less effective). After casting the spell, the caster will need to spend a quiet moment 'recharging' before casting it again.
Not a revolutionary spell, but it has the potential to render the conventional version obsolete, allowing all our forces to carry 'free', 'rechargeable' flashbangs on every mission.
would it be notably harder if it was castable through walls/doors?

Answered on Discord:

To cast a spell through a wall requires alot of knowledge in certain areas

So basically, spells are cast using LoS.

SCALE-ing Up: (Logistic design) [3+1+1=5] [4+4+1=9]
You spend the entire month convincing the board to "accidentally" lose track of some more funds. A PowerPoint is prepared, people practice their speeches, and several covert demonstrations of the SOFIA and the SFOS are given. Originally they hadn't been that keen on the idea, but after the demonstrations of your body armor, and a very pointed reminder that the main reason you lost was because you couldn't afford to buy any armor, the Board decides to route and additional 35 supply your way monthly. ((The cost roll, being so high, means that the next attempt to ask for more funds will give more than normal, assuming they get good results from this turn.))

You also sell the foal pistol.

Spoiler: Agents (click to show/hide)

It is now the Revision Phase of February. Vote on a single revision, and choose a weapon to request from the corporation.

We now possess a total of 131 supply, since the pistol was sold for half value (rounded down), enabling us to buy 9 SFOS (bringing us up to 10 total) and 3 SOFIAs, which should be enough to equip all our forces given we'll be getting a free piece of hardware from the company this turn. I propose we get the H&K MG4, also known as the HK123. Reasons include the fact that you don't have to change the gas system to use different ammo (it'll allow us to trivially modify it to use our own ammo), the fact it's relatively light, has a high muzzle velocity, it's reliability, most likely cheap cost...

Alternatively, we can go with a PDW such as the FN P90 and modify it to use our own ammo, or otherwise improve it. Checking with Johiah if said modification would allow us to manufacture it ourselves at a lower price. Additionally, it has a large ammo capacity and a long barrel due to the bullpup design (which is really good for PDWs and SMGs in for accuracy, muzzle velocity, weight etc. assuming it's done well such as here. It's more fit for urban combat and it'd still allow us to overwhelm their shields, underneath which they'd be left in the open since they haven't invested in actual armor.

Edit: After checking, yes we can manufacture the thing ourselves once we rev it.

Revisions, you say. This idea was floated on Discord:

Capture Kit: A simple set of tools for capturing VIPs, or enemy agents. You got your handcuffs, you got your sedatives, you got your rope, you got your telescoping truncheon, you got your bag to put over their head- and anything else you might need to disable and confine your target. Simple stuff, but useful.

5.56mm AP Rounds:, With the effectiveness of the SOFIA's AP rounds, transferring the design of the AP ammunition to the carbine should be a priority, allowing us to make an utter mockery of their armour.

Extended Magazines: By investing in a small effort make make larger magazines, we can improve the combat endurance and longevity of our suppressive fire, and allow our operatives to get more shots off at a target before needing to reload.

Capture kit: (Boring/trivial revision) [1+4+1=6]
You successfully gathered a bunch of already existing equipment that you could pretty much buy at a general store, and placed them in a single bundle. Congratulations. Zip ties were included as a bonus, and are effective at containing anyone except Arrow. Woop de do. 4 supply. Melee range equipment to aid in incapacitating and then capturing an enemy. Essentially guarantees success on capturing, as long as you can get into melee.

Weapon Request (FN P90) [4+3=7]
The deal we get with the board on acquiring P90s is a work of art. They are generally more effective than our rifles, and we managed to get them for cheaper.
FN P90: 715m/s muzzle velocity. Fully automatic. 900 RPM. Effective 200m. Maximum 1.8km. FN 5.7x28mm cartridge. 2 EU unloaded, 4 EU loaded. 5 supply. 50 round clip size. 50 rounds 1 EU.

Missions:
We have the option to steal Thantro tech and money from a vault in one of their banking firms. The vault doesn't contain incriminating evidence, to our knowledge. The building doesn't have many guards, and the only significant resistance would be if Thantro sent a team to defend the vault.

We have been informed that a head Thantro mathemagician is being relocated to a location outside of the city. The route starts at wherever Thantro headquarters are, and gradually makes its way outside the city to a family farm. We will provide bikes or cars on request. Currently the plan is to go during the day while traffic is busy, although this could be changed. If the mathemagician is killed or captured, our research into magic will be slowed down for the next few weeks for Thantro.

One of our... less legal coworkers will be selling some... illicit substances a few night from now with a third party in an abandoned car park at night. See that the deal goes through successfully.

Some of our spiders online picked up on a forum that a past employee has found some dirt on one of the board members. Their house is in the suburban area of the city. Break in and steal whatever they have. Instability from this mission doubled due to incriminating evidence.

Special missions:
We have the option of stealing an employee identity and placing one of our agents inside a Thantro facility. They would work on quietly sabotaging the enemy and passing along intel. Once at the end of the revision phase I will roll a 1d6. On a four you get to see a random one of their designs, revisions, or equipment requests. 5 is two. 6 is two but they gain the option to perform the "hunt impostors" mission. 3 is nothing, 2 is nothing and option to "hunt impostors", 1 is your agent gets killed. This agent is not one of your mission performing agents.

We have found the location of the stolen SOFIA pistols. They are currently stored in a Thantro warehouse. It has only two entrances and no windows. There are two floors, the base floor and a second level that is just a catwalk around the edge of the room. There is a single 2mx2m skylight in the center of the room. The pistols are presumably hidden in one of the many boxes stored in the warehouse. The warehouse is roughly 100mx100m. We believe most other equipment was removed from the warehouse in case we decided to attack.

Agents to recruit from:
Reece Walker (M)
Pavlov (M)
Nikita (F)
Boris (M)
Zhukov (M)
Brusilov (M)
Moira (F)
Hugh (M)
Alex (F)
Wallace (M)

Spoiler: Agents (click to show/hide)

It is now the Tactics Phase of February. Vote on which missions to perform, write up a summary of the tactics used, and recruit up to 8 new agents from  the provided list.

[X] Plan "Breaking and Entering"

I believe that for this turn we should maximally focus on dealing the most damage as possible to the enemy while also securing more funds, hence I propose we attack the vault and their mathemagician - so as to both harm their magic-design capabilities and secure additional funds for next turn, at the expense of their stability and supply.

For that purpose, I propose the following squad allotment.

Newly recruited agents include:
Reece Walker (M) (Previous description holds - if still applicable for fluff purposes)
Pavlov (M)
Nikita (F)
Boris (M)
Zhukov (M)
Brusilov (M)
Moira (F)
Alex (F)

Leftover Supply: 2

Edit:  Plan Vault scrapped on account of more missions appearing because balance (?). Have to repurpose ART I.
Edit 03/04/2018*: Replaced plan Vault with plan Kill the Fucker.
Edit 04/04/2018: Recalculated costs and wrote down what we were buying for GM convenience.

*(DD/MM/YYYY because I'm reasonable)

So, couple of things.
Are you taking into account the magic skill of our agents when assigning roles? Ideally we want to assign high-skill agents to low-risk positions.
Why not spread grenades out amongst different agents?
ART II features two SOFIAs without a * indicating we already own it... but we have enough in stock to cover them. (E:fixed now)

E: Yeah, alright. It'll do.

Mondragon Mission Reports:

Asset Reclamation Team 1: (Blackmail material quarantine)
The squad arrived at night. They waited on nearby rooftops, people watching every angle. After waiting until 2 in the morning with no reports of enemy agents from command, they decided to move in. The break in was cautious but also fairly simple. One of the men simply picked the lock to the front door. The team moved in quitely, examining every possible storage unit. Ultimately, they concluded that Thantro had not shown up. Due to the lack of enemy contestants, they decided to abduct the man instead, completely wiped the forum he posted on with a virus, before also confiscating his laptop. Once the man realized how many agents were holding guns at his head when he woke up, he complied without any resistance. Due to our capture, we were able to interrogate the man for information as to where he found the blackmail material. Next turn all stability losses are halved. Despite the success, Evgeni Bulgolyubov laments the lack of things to shoot during the mission.
Mission success
Your agents are now more experienced.
Next turn all stability losses are halved
+20 supply as reward for flawless success

Asset Reclamation Team 2: (Scientist assasination/capture)
As the assasination team was preparing to meet the escort team at the chosen ambush point, our informant notified us that the plan had changed but that they could get no information on what the new change actually was, and that the scientist was simply... gone. Our operatives and command both kept an eye out, watching as many streets as possible and listening in on government and police channels for possible disturbances. At about midday, the drone watching the farm at 1km saw a postal van pull up to the farm, and someone went out to greet it. As a man stepped out of the back, a flash of realization swept through control. Thantro must have simply sent the scientist through express shipping! All available agents rushed towards the farm in the vain hope that they could reach it before the scientist was sequestered inside the underground portion of it, but were too slow. Those cursed Thantrans! Diego Sanchez raged for nearly thirty minutes after being informed of the failure. Due to there being no significant events except patrols during the mission, none of the agents gained experience either.
Mission failure

You have regained one stability. You have 137 supply this month.

Spoiler: Agents (click to show/hide)

It is now the Design Phase of March 1983. You may vote on a single design.

Don't we have 157 supply?

Also, update to our mission statement:
Quote
Goal: Win the game.
Method: Play the game Break the game.
If that's how they want to play it, and the GM is willing to accomodate them, then fine, let's throw "adhering to the premise of the game" out the window.

Anyway, design ideas. I still think we want a spell of some sort, as currently our mages have nothing but a light cantrip to cast- we gain a lot of utility for 'free' by designing a basic spell.

We could do Mindfog, which should always be useful. Alt, since time magic is definitely a thing, we could create a 'bullet time' spell. Healing magic inexplicably isn't a thing, but word of GM has it we could achieve a similar effect with time magic being used to accelerate healing (and yet somehow not accelerate bleeding out?). We could replace breaching and (as yet non-existent) demolition charges with a simple power-variable explosion spell. Hypnotism would certainly be a boon to many mission types- bluff your way past guards and such.

I dunno. Nothing leaps out to me, though many things seem viable. Of course, I'm not even thinking about tech, but maybe there's some piece of kit that would actually be worth spending supply on instead of getting for 'free'.

Well, in that vein, instead of something like bullet time we, say, train our operatives in a magical art that allows them to land shots with terrifying accuracy?

But yeah, we are the techheads, and thus our solutions should be tech based first and foremost.
