Gwynfor nods to Dunnel.

"I can go with you, Dunnel. With your toughness and my power, we will easily defeat those creatures. Lead the way. The others could lie in ambush and attack from behind while we distract them."

((Non-encounter actions still have to be PM'd, right? How would attacking first with lightning bolts work and would it be different from just doing it the first frame, first turn?))

"Yeah, I can take out a goblin fairly quickly, but I doubt it can be kept quiet under the circumstances." Miles peers though the bushes at the nearest goblin group, while absently scratching fluffy's ears. The kitten seems to appreciate this, but not enough to come out of his hood.

"I'll head around to the side a bit and get ready to open up with my bow when any of you get noticed. After a few shots I'll charge in from the side and catch them in the flank when you all have their attention focused. Unless anyone has a better idea, of course?"

"I believe having half of the team deal with one goblin group while the other half deals with the second group to be a good plan. Miles is a good ambusher, and Götz can deal a lot of damage pretty quickly with that huge blade. They can dispatch one of the goblin groups while we fight the other."

"Just remember to not let them group together, as dealing with 6 goblins at the same time is far harder."

Gwynfor is ready to follow Dunnel and fight one of the goblin groups. He prepares to use his Hymnal against the goblins, hoping for the lightning bolts to strike true when the fight started. The sounds of thunder were guaranteed to alert the goblins towards him, but the noise would help Miles sneak and strike the enemy without being heard.

All right, assuming everyone else is OK with it, sounds like a plan.

((Question: Can we please post actions in "GM's eyes only" spoilers like the following?))

Hm, yes that seems fine. Also, in the pre-encounter step, what you're primarily going to be doing is positioning and set ups for immediately prior to combat, or choices and problem solving outside of it. I also don't require that you hide your pre-encounter actions- though you can if you want to.

Example pre-encounter actions would be try and lie in ambush for a particular group (as in HeyDude's first action), to get into position on the other side of any enemy force, to create a distraction to cluster certain enemies, etc.

In general, if your action is primarily to deal damage to foes, it's best left for the encounter itself. However, if your aim is to do something that you can't do in combat with lightning (such as strike fear into a particular foe, or set a patch of ground on far, that would be all right

Considering I've banjaxed this beginning a bit, I'll start the combat and get the battlemap up soon, considering you guys seem to have a solid plan of action.

Process of elimination, I'll wait for the right group. I'm changing my mind about the bow, I'll stick with the katana for quick kills. I can always pop "Stalk" if the going gets tough.

"Psst, I'm going to sneak up on em as fast as I can" Miles says quietly to Götz, I'll join in as soon as I can, but I won't be able to hit them immediately, it is too far. Try to lure them up beside the bushes, I'm headed for the one on the end.

((I can kill two per turn with my katana if I only have to move one space.))

The air crackled with electricity as Gwynfor pulled a small book from his robes.

"I would recommend for you to get out of the way, Dunnel. Try attacking from the side, instead."
