Minotaurs stay aggressive despite being trained, help

I changed the minotaur raws to hopefully be able to train them and they do get trained but as soon as they leave the cage, they go on a rampage or get beheaded by the military. Are they always considered enemies of my civilization like enemy mounts and is that why this is happening? If so, can dfhack or something else clear their loyalty? I know it's not just because they are intelligent since I've been able to set troll fur industries in other forts before and I've even tried clearing the [CAN_LEARN][CAN_SPEAK] tags to be sure but that didn't change anything. IIRC, Megabeasts (semi included) are always hostile.

Beast ones like dragons or rocs seem to work just fine as pets, though. I also tried clearing the [SEMIMEGABEAST] tag but it didn't help.

As best as I'm aware, if the (semi)megabeast in question has been declared an enemy of your civ during worldgen, for instance just because the civ knew about its existence or it was in their territory or it killed someone/thing/stole from them, then it will remain so forever. Training cannot clear this status.

I think, though, that if you get a breeding pair together and get the female pregnant, stick them back in cages, and then wait for the child to be born whilst ensuring the mother is trained at all times, the child should be trained and a member of your civ, but not an enemy of it due to having never done anything. So maybe try that? You'd have to be careful, that's for sure.
