Replacing constructions with other constructions.
« on: May 11, 2018, 11:19:15 am »

I love a good overground fortress. But building upper floors is beyond annoying.

You can either get up to the higher floor, floor the whole thing, then rip up the floors to place walls for separate rooms. Or you can slowly designate all the floors leaving gaps for the walls, then build the walls (meanwhile the lower rooms aren't quite so usable because of all the holes in the ceiling).

What I'd like is the ability to build constructions on other existing constructions (Walls on floors. Fortifications on walls, stairs on floors, floors on stairs, tracks on all, etc...).

Dwarf will go up to the tile, remove the existing construction, then use the material gained from it to build the new construction in its place. (or use whatever piece of material they grabbed, because you told them to use something other than the mat the existing thing was made from.)

*edit some clarity*
