Settings for text mode with Terminal.app on macOS
« on: June 03, 2018, 09:45:51 am »

Just want to share this since it took a few minutes of fiddling around to get it all looking right. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

If you want to play DF on macOS in text mode and have it look like the OpenGL version, this Terminal.app profile will get you a look and feel that appears pretty close to the default. I've made it super easy to basically just drag and drop this into Terminal.app settings. The only thing that's been changed are the blue color definitions. IMO the default blues have too little contrast.

FWIW I'm using Terminal.app 2.8.2 and macOS 10.13.4 (17E202).

Instructions:

1) Download "Px437_IBM_VGA8.ttf" from The Ultimate Oldschool PC Font Pack (https://int10h.org/oldschool-pc-fonts/fontlist/)
2) Download "Dwarf Fortress.terminal" and import it into Terminal.app (http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=13803).
3) Have "fun". :)

Is this to make Dwarf Fortress take advantage of Retina displays?

You know it. My iMac Pro was built for text mode.
