Can we contact the warehouse from the bore by jacking into the comm lines if both have a ham radio? Or do we need to pay to do that?

Buy a fridge cool enough and big enough to store the corpses in it so that they don't go bad, if it doesn't cost more than 30 fathoms.

Gonna take 100 feet of rope and 2 bottles of worm blood from the fund.

Going to buy 2 magazines for my Ethral rifle and a grappling hook.

Manhandling the soapbox again, Adam made a quick announcement to the rest of the crew.
"We'll be leaving shortly! All who wish to join the escort job, kiss your mothers goodbye and get on board!"

Then, he went back to the pilot to check if they were fully ready for departure.
"Hello again, Vikkan. All systems green, we ready to go?"

Quote
Generally not. The exception is the Abyssal path, which charges to use the automated systems that lower the bore down. Its fairly cheap though.

How much would that be?

Buy 1 silent night.

Gather the pilgrims and have them board the bore. Try to get a feel for the kind of people they are, tell them they are to stay inside the crew quarters at all times unless told otherwise.

Then gather the papers we need for the transport mission for the jeweler. After that, assuming our pilot is ready and willing, we set sail for God's Breath!

Spoiler: Adam Blavatsky Darvaza (click to show/hide)
Depends on the length you travel. Assuming you go from the jade crossing to the fault path, 3 fathoms.
Ok
The pilgrims you gather up are all...well...experienced pilgrims are nothing to mess with. They're experienced cavers, used to dangerous conditions and dangerous creatures, skilled hardened to a sharp point by experience. These are not experienced pilgrims. These men and women are all either first time pilgrims or the "Bore pilgrims" who make their journeys on chartered bores and along cleared paths. They've all got the lackadaisical attitude of tourists and you see precious few well provisioned packs between them.  You direct them into the crew quarters and let them know to stay in place at all times unless you tell them to. You then give them a slightly more steward-like speech about the path to their destination and times involved before closing the door and heading back.

You head to town and get all the paperwork from the jeweler before returning to the bore and waiting for the driver to start the trip.

What's a void rat?

Would sacrificing one of the beasts on offer suffice for animating my vertebra scarab? If so, how much would it cost?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Talked about in the lore doc (which I still update).  Like an arrowhead shaped horseshoe crab.

Probably. Full grown one would cost 10.

1. Trim some leaves and branches off the tree.
2. I don’t know how much a new crucible is, but if I can get one for 20 or less, I’ll get a new one. If I’m able, I’ll try to smelt the trimmings into ingots.
3. Give one ingot to Clate, keep one ingot for myself, and sell the rest.
4. I go to the mysterybox lady (I’m assuming Clate mentioned her to me at some point). I trade my rifle. Go buy 2 more reloads worth of ammo for my revolver.
5. Join the Bore crew and prepare for departure.

There is a note pinned to the tree that reads-
Quote
If anybody touches this tree, I will water it with your blood
-Regards, Harm.
Spoiler: Harm (click to show/hide)
1. Ok
2. You buy one for 17. You then melt the stuff down. The leaves all melt down into pure gold, the branches melt into gold and leave behind wisps and chips of crystal that make up a good amount of the mass of the stuff. You manage to get two ingots out of maybe 1/3rd of the tree.
3. You could get 4 more ingots melting the rest of the tree down if you wanted. They'd be worth about 100-120 each.
4. You buy your ammo and trade 100 fathoms and the rifle to the Lady.  She hands you a small red box with a silver tag dangling from it. Etched on the tag is "VOICE IN THE EYES".   "A weapon imposes your will on the world. This is a fitting trade."
5. Ok.

"We're good to go. Is everyone aboard?" Vikkan asked as he performed the last checks before starting the lumbering machine.

Begin escort mission.

OK.

Alright, Gathering the Relic Vision group and preparing to go

Relic team: AsHul, Drett, Alex, Clate, Nyw, Auft, Schitter, Auft's slave.

Storing my guitars, Brass Brain, sheet music, bomb collar all in the warehouse in a locker.
Putting the Ham radio on the Bore.

Taking a knife from the loot pile. Inventory and wiki edited.

OK. When you and everyone are ready, just head over to the church.

Startled by the intercom, Alex wakes up from his nap, leaves the bore and approaches AsHul.

"Are we ready yet? The others are about to leave on their mission."

Follow the rest of the relic team.
Spoiler: Alex Wells (click to show/hide)
Store stuff in my locker/chest or whatever (it's in my charsheet)

Then I'm ready to go for the relic vision quest.

Following. Letting Oz take the lead on when to go.

Spoiler: "Kara" the Corven (click to show/hide)

Yes, though it requires stopping the bore and manually connecting to the lines.
Cooling tech is rather expensive, mostly dedicated towards bore climate control and similar things. You wouldn't be able to get a giant freezer for that much
Alright.
Also alright.

” I’ll miss you guys!”
Go on the relic vision thingy

Spoiler: character sheet (click to show/hide)

Seems you have been denied. We'll assume you got on the bore before it left.

Ok, Cael.  You tell me the path you want the bore to take and we'll follow it. The plan I had was Journeyman, jade to jade crossing, down abyssal till past the pilgrim walk, then drill sideways into the caverns.  Ok?

Go check on the pilgrims, keep an eye out in case any of them get antsy. Maybe read to them from my Black Book a little.

Suppose you have a diver that's projecting his mind to another sphere, while I am still in realspace in front of his unconscious body. Would it be possible, through occult tinkering, to make a device that allows one to give a small stimulus (eg. pinch in the cheek) to the body of the diver and have that stimulus be felt by the diver's spirit in the other dimension? Ideally it would also work for people doing a relic dive.

On the Bore, find an unoccupied room, and check out the box.

Ok. Next time, "Go to church" not "Prepare to go".

You drag everyone on the group over to the church. The men there direct you across the cave about 40 feet to a clean cut stairway tunnel leading into the stone. Its unembellished at the moment but will no doubt be prettied up once the test run is done.  You take the path down, winding in a square spiral for maybe 100 feet before coming to a room. Just outside the room is a short hall with several chairs and a brass bell suspended from the ceiling. Other members of the church are already sitting in those chairs, and look at you expectantly as you enter the shrine.

The Shrine is quite small, maybe 8 feet across and long, with just enough room for the 8 people to fit inside. It has four walls but one of the walls is also the enormous stone door of the room, so that only when the door is closed will the shape of the room be complete. The walls are not flat; each wall of the roughly square room has a half circle divot carved into it, with a curved stone bench set into it. The bench and the walls are lined with padding, its roughly done for the moment but will no doubt be replaced with finer stuff later.  There are similarly rough straps set into stone, meant to hold the pilgrims in place while they dream. At the center of the room is a stone dais with a bright silver cage atop it. In the cage is a neat mound of dried fungal wood and atop the cage, held in place by adjustable tines, is the relic. Its an unassuming thing, the head of a statue. Male, quite old by the design, damaged and worn with time. As you move in, the eyes of the statue follow you around the room. And no, they don't seem to do so, they literally do so, its dull stone eyes looking between each of you that it can see.

"Please sit down and secure yourselves in place." one of the church members says, "The chain here" He indicates a hanging chain with a triangular handle at the end, "rings the bell outside. When you are finished or need assistance, signal us. We will open the way out." The man hands AsHul a long metal rod with what appears to be a piece of stone secured on the end. "Strike the tip of this against the bars of the cage. It will shed sparks and light the wood. You should be able to do it even while sitting down. "

The man steps back and then looks around at you all. "Any questions before we seal the room?"

Sit down, strap in, and wait for the others to get settled. Start the fire once we're sealed in. ((Edited out the conditional statements so PW doesn't have to hunt down everyone's posts before doing mine.))

Kara made her goodbyes to the Relic Exploration team, taking the time to address each of them personally, before leaving to board the bore.

"AsHul, you are a very capable individual. However keep in mind that you will be leading a group now. I understand that..." Kara didn't want to say abominations "people like you might not have too much experience doing this sort of thing, but I'm certain you'll find a way to manage. If you'll allow me to make a suggestion, just show them that you are all in this together and that you need to work together to get through this. They should want to follot you because of your skill and your experience with this sort of thing."
Kara made a one-armed shrug.
"At least that's what I'd do. But if the situation doesn't permit that, if you decide another approach would be better... It's your choice. And your responsibility."

"Alex, I have to admit, when we first met, I misjudged what kind of person you are. I am sorry if I spoke harshly to you. I am certain that you will be very helpful. Just try to manage your enthusiasm. This could be an alien place. You can't be sure of what's safe to grab. Oh, and don't try to blow stuff up unless you need to, OK? You don't want to cause any accidental collateral damage."

"Nyw, I'm sure you know you are their sword and shield while they're in there. You need to keep them safe. And I'm certain you'll make sure they do not stray from what is good and just. But your usefulness extends far beyond that. You are capable of surviving things no other person could. You are capable of removing obstacles. You are capable of building Bridges. My point is, you are more than just a sword on legs. Keep an open mind and you'll see new solutions."

"Clate, I'm certain your ingenuity will come in handy in there. The ability to construct solutions is perhaps more important than any other. Just don't get too excited about all the magical material, OK? Not everything in there is going to be safe or work like you believe it does. My suggestion is to retain some caution."

"Auft, you are capable and determined. I don't think anything will be able to stand in your way. Just make sure what you're going through isn't your teammates."
Kara talked to the slave next.
"If Auft trusts you, then I have no reason not to. Keep her pleased and I'm certain she'll reward you. She's not unkind."

Kara addresses Schitter next.
"You... I don't really know you. But if AsHul has allowed you to participate, then I'm certain you meet his standards. Listen to him and you'll do well."

She saved Drett for last, knowing it would be the hardest goodbye to make.
"So, uh, I guess we won't be seeing each other for a while. I, erm, just wanted to say... I understand you want to help others and that means sometimes making risky choices, but... You're my friend. I don't want to lose you. So please, stay safe, OK? I want to sleep close to you again. I want to learn more about you, your life, why you're here. I want to draw you like you promised you'd let me do. Don't break your promise. Please."
She looked down, embarrassed to be speaking like this, but she couldn't help it. He'd saved her life. She'd managed to make a friend when she thought she would have to be alone. If some embarrassment was the price to pay to keep him safe, then she would gladly take it.

"I should've slept less. I barely wake up and it's all a burst of activity because people were off being useful while I was just getting pale and lazy." Vikkan joked as he threw a lever and the bore lurched forward.

That path is good and safe (?), as agreed in Discord.
