Perfect!  Nyw will take the daggers and shortswords to some plaza or other public, open space, and in addition to donating the weapons to the poor, he'll very forcefully offer lessons.  If someone *insists* then he won't demand they stay and learn, but he'll do everything short of it.  His lessons will also include a lot of lecturing about when to use weapons and when not to, with an emphasis on the sanctity of life.

If anyone shows particularly exceptional skill, he'll offer to spar with them, with him unarmed and fighting nonlethally, but still seriously.  The sparring partner can use their new weapon, of course.

Add the 750 fathoms to the team fund, retrieve the ancient human books I stored in the warehouse, then go bounty hunting, starting with the criminal worth 150 fathoms.

While I'm waiting for mission start, use the vast amount of rocks we have laying around to make the best stone/crystal blade (assuming my stone blade skill counts for crystal, go for that) that I can make. "Best" being from a combat standpoint, not from a prettyness standpoint.

Regardless of outcome, attempt to shapeshift myself in a more humanoid form. If I'm succesfull in becoming at least passably humanoid, go meet polyantha. Converse a bit, and ask if she's interested in either crystal baby 5 (the one made from frankensteining together 2 other crystal babies) or crystal baby 8 (the man-sized humanoid one I made myself). Also propose giving her one in exchange for info on the crystal people and/or the crystal overmind.

((Dialog if I make it there)) Upon meeting Polyantha, Clate will make writing appear on his body facing her, to communicate.

Greetings. Perhaps you remember me. I was the shluck who visited before. As you can see, much has happened in the meantime.
I come to present you two more crystal constructs. Perhaps they peak your interest. One is an amalgamation of two seperate constructs I fused together, while the other is a construct of my own making, capable of increased capability should it's owner share their willpower with them.
I am only looking to sell one in the way of your usual deals, but I would be willing to exchange the other as well in exchange for any info on the crystal race. More specifically, the dormant crystal overmind someone as knowledgable as you doubtlessly knows about.

Occult roll, do I have any idea what this web stuff does? If not, then leave it alone for now.

Build a crossbow. Despite my temptation, I’m going to just make a normal crossbow with a lever draw. Would it be possible to make it able to shoot bolts and shurikens?

Spoiler: Harm (click to show/hide)
[11]
You have no real idea what this is but judging by the name it probably effects perceptions in some way.

[1]
You build a crossbow using 3 structural and 1 mechanical.  It can currently hold 5 bolts. [crossbow 3] As per shurikens, it might be able to be modified to do so OR the shurikens might be able to be fitted in a sabot, but as is it won't.

Stay close to the ground. Scurry Drag my lumpen carcass arond in the forest for a bit, looking for a small tree. One hand high would be good. Basically I want to see if I can pull one liek a weed and stuff it in my hammer space. However, if I find the edge of Lightning Town, do peek out at whatever other elemental region I see.

You press low to the ground and scramble forward in your best combat crawl. [7] You quickly find a small tree structure; they're not uncommon but are somewhat hard to see as they seem to grow near the base of the larger ones and blend in. You carefully grab one, avoiding the sharp parts, and snap it off after a good deal of wiggling and bending it back and forth.

Well, since I didn't get to scout last time we were there and it's unlikely we'll go back there for a third trip, I guess my only choice is to... wing it.

Go to some junkyard/recycling area and see if they'd be willing to let us have a bunch of their junk in return for a fee. I'm thinking if we have enough material we can just make what we need to capture/kill that monster. We currently have chemical, weapon and general workshop, that should be enough for most things, right?

Also, go have a golden pin installed. If I have to choose a body part, then ask for their suggestion and follow it. If they have no suggestion, put it opposite of my palm.

Does the golden pin look anything at all like the golden rocks of the Messenger path? Try licking it before it is installed and then lick the messenger rock. Do they taste similarly?

EDIT: Are the containers in a Containment Vault portable? And are they any good for storing artifacts on their own? If not, how much would it cost to make them so? Because I'm thinking it would be more convenient to take one container each so that we have somewhere to put artifacts in. Plus it would save money.

Spoiler: "Kara" the Corven (click to show/hide)
The junkyard won't just give you stuff, but it will sell you just big collections of junk by weight. The dump is...well there's not a whole lot there. Underground society is pretty careful about its trash and recycles what it can, since supplies are often difficult to find. The junk yard is mostly metal, which is very common underground but things like leather, food, chemicals, etc are more difficult.

You get the golden pin "installed" lengthwise in your forearm, as it is said to be the place least likely to cause irritation.  Inserting it doesn't cause you to suddenly know everything....nor does it really have any hugely obvious effect. Hmm maybe its situational?

You consider the golden pin and the gold from the path now that the pin has been installed. [19, 20] No idea...but something about it feels right.

Some are, but the big ones aren't. So unless this thing can fit into a foot cubed or so, you probably can't drag it around like that.

Check around the markets, any weapons, items or tools that would roll nerve or that seem occult?

Secondly, could I buy some sort of artifact container box that is suitable for holding artifacts of unknown, ah, temper? If nothing like that is available, how much for a sturdy box with some padding and that can be locked?

How much for a:
smoke bomb
flashbang
connecting Oz' fire Control Brain to our bore for that sweet +1?

Most of your weapon recipients bugger off despite your VERY STERN insistence.  The handful that stick around are mostly kids in their middle and late teens, often pretty poor, and clearly desiring to make their way in the world.  None of them are really talented but they're all very enthusiastic.

The bounties for 150 vary between low level thugs, white collar criminals, cheating husbands and a variety of odd jobs that might be more reasonably classified as soldier of fortune or private eye work than true bounty hunting. Are you in the mood for something murdery or more thinky?

Buy 2 more reloads of revolver ammo.
Go in the workshop and use the utility knife to make more obsidian arrowheads like the one I made earlier. Then fletch them into crossbow bolts (use guardbone or other available materials. Go out and buy some sticks if necessary)
Also try to modify a shuriken to fit in the crossbow, and if that goes well, modify around 20.

Return with my loot to the material plane. Escort Clate to Polyantha's to deflect any nervousness of the townsolk. Try to look ominously religious, and maybe just a little ...ah ... 'saintly.' Trade to Polyantha My black book (copy), both occult junks, and my demagnetized Neodymium bomb collar. Then on to the bore for high adventure. Inspect my lightning tree carefully. Is it organic, metallic, crystalline? is it inert or does it seem to have a stored charge?

Buy a bunch of chemical and mechanical junk for 80 fathoms.

Consider if it would be possible to use Crystal Friend as a mount, perhaps by adding a harness or a place to stand. It has four legs and can climb vertical surfaces (at least in crystal ruins) while carrying me, so it should be quite strong.

What about mounting a large weapon like a harpoon gun or a bore piercer on it? Do I have any idea about whether or not it could handle the recoil?

Clate and Ashul head to Polyantha's.

She tells you that isn't how it works. You give her an item and 100 fathoms and you get a box.  She doesn't buy.

The message basically says that he is available for a personal meeting for the next two weeks or so, but after that he is departing on an expedition.

150 fathoms for something that sized. Its essentially a diving sealed container that they say can hold just about anything as long as it physically fits inside.

Buy 2 more reloads of revolver ammo.
Go in the workshop and use the utility knife to make more obsidian arrowheads like the one I made earlier. Then fletch them into crossbow bolts (use guardbone or other available materials. Go out and buy some sticks if necessary)

[2][11][17]
You make a bunch of arrowheads, though their quality is all over the place [pierce (Random, d4 each time)].
Fitting them into bolts goes much more smoothly and you make 25 of them total.
Modifying the Shuriken doesn't go well at all and you can't figure it out.

Let's go with murdery, it's going to be quicker and more violent. Find the target, subdue them, collect the bounty and make sure that I'm on the bore at the end of the turn.

The tree is metallic by the look of it, and seemingly inert.

Again, she doesn't buy, she trades.

You get 20 chemical junk and 22 mechanical junk.

You might be able to.

On the crystal friend? Nah, its too small for that.

Ok, RC wants to get out of here. Is there ANYONE who wants to stay behind or is everyone running back right now? Because He's leaving. Also I assume you guys have enough fuel and such? Maybe in your list of stuff bought was a refuel? In any case, we following the main roads I assume.  Assuming that is true, you're gonna reach a pretty big traffic jam at Twin Falls. The place is absolutely overrun with bores, crawlers, and pilgrims on foot. Everyone has heard of the new messenger path by now and are all out to see it for their own reasons. The bridge through it, recently completed and still being modified to include a covering and adequate security, isn't large enough to accommodate the crowds and people are being allowed through on a first come first serve basis by the city. There's talk that they're basically just holding people up in order to force them to pay for accommodations in town but regardless of the reason, the path is very blocked at the minute and there's a several days long estimated wait.

"We could just dig around the traffic jam."

If nobody objects, refuel (82 fathoms by my count +4 for the abyssal path toll) and then dig towards the place I heard the roars coming from in the messenger path. Not directly at it, but near it. (I have +1 Navigation, if there's a roll involved)

Use the workshop to try to make a harness/saddle for riding Crystal Friend using some of the structural junk on the bore. It should also have a holster for the control rod so I can actually direct it, tied with some rope so that it's unlikely to fall off. A place where I could attach my Ethral Rifle's bipod would also be nice. EDIT: Any help is appreciated.

Humm.  Before leaving them, Nyw will explain to the youths his position on a nomadic bore, and offer them the chance to accompany him.  If they're actually foolish excited enough to take him up on that, he'll pick the most promising two and take them to the bore, or at least tell them its location and departure time, if they need to collect their personal effects first.

Then, yeah, Nyw will return to the bore and be ready to go off on another adventure.
