Vikkan ended up following Kara since they had to talk. "I know a few games, but I don't have a deck of cards on me. Weird for a bore conductor since we spend so much time alone in the control room, I guess. And we could swap stories, though I'm not that old. There's a reason why I have a mail shirt under my overalls."

"And I was thinking about sleeping in the control room, but if you want company I could find another cot and a spot close to yours."

"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Kara spoke with a voice full of child-like wonder, her tail bobbing slightly as she walked.
"Oh, sleeping in the control room must be wonderful! The constant clicking and humming of the brain is so soothing and reassuring, like a beating heart letting you know all is OK... And you can lie down under the dome and it would be like sleeping outside, but without all the nasty bugs and vermin crawling around. Or you can close the dome and leave only the Nixie tubes and status lights. It must be what sleeping under the stars would be like."
She realized what she was doing and looked away in embarrassment.
"I- At least I imagine it must be so. Maybe I'm being silly."

"No, no. You're right, it's pretty soothing. Conducting bores was my dream since I was a little boy, so the control room feels like home." Vikkan reached for his black flame before adding, as a second thought: "It's also safe. After these diving incidents, I just hope people stop trying to dive in situations where they can harm anyone that isn't themselves."

"Yeah. I was thinking of forcing any new divers we allow to join the group to give up their relic fragments until their first expedition. It would help prevent stuff like what we had to deal with from ever happening again. But maybe it's too much. I don't know. I don't believe I can think very clearly about that right now. I'm so... Angry? Frustrated? Disappointed? I don't know. Feels like such a waste." she said and motioned towards her missing arm with her beak.
She took a deep breath and exhaled before sitting down and searching under her cot for the deck of cards.

"Done now."

Find a good hiding spot in the warehouse behind some crates or something and go to sleep. With my revolver in arm's reach.

Spoiler: Wiellste. -_- zzz (click to show/hide)
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

AsHul will visit a Musicarium, and present his sheet music for appraisal. Is the music for a single instrument (if so, which?), a band of some kind, an orchestra? Is it normal music or some kind of magical? Is the quality of the compositions good? are they familiar or foreign?

Also, which strata does my black book have?

AsHul will return and rest to regain his lost Nerve

The music is for a single instrument, a string instrument by their guess, something strummed and plucked as opposed to played with a bow, but nothing specific beyond that. It appears mundane but complex, difficult, and odd. Its not like anything they've seen before.

Yours or the one given to you? And is it official? If its official it has them all.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Quote
Sorry, but I completely lost interest on Lokam. He's going to the local church and retire with plans of making a pilgrimage, leaving his Black Book and Black Flame to Adam before leaving the bore for good.
"Are you sure you wish to leave us, brother Lokam? Well, if you are, then I wish you good luck on your future journeys. Before you leave though, will you no longer require your book and black flame? I'll take great care of them if you insist on leaving them here, but I wouldn't want you to regret that decision. Secondly, you should take your share of the money from the mission to help you get settled in your new life."
"It's okay, please keep the book. I feel you might need His teachings more than I, and I won't need money in my pilgrimage. I don't deserve money for what I did."
"Well then, I thank you again for these. I will treasure them."

If we're talking what amount to walkie talkies here, assuming you don't need them to go very far, you can get a set of 4 for 10.

1) Could we get a comms suite for the bore that could act as an amplifier of sorts to ensure that we could always stay in contact through our radios? Within reasonable limits, so not when inside another plane of existence or something, but good enough to punch through some interference.
2) Alternatively, are there more powerful handheld radios available? If yes, how much would that cost us?
3) Look around to see if there are any missions/job opportunities available that relate to transporting goods or escorting people somewhere.

Spoiler: Adam Blavatsky Darvaza (click to show/hide)
1) AsHul's radio will function as one fairly decently. You could slap on an amplifier for 20 to make it work at longer distances and better through interference.
2) They'd get pretty expensive if you want them to stay handheld.
3) There's a small group of pilgrims who want transport down to the God's Breath Caverns. They're offering 30 fathoms a head, for 12 of them.  There's also jeweler who needs materials picked up from Goldshore and his normal transporter has up and vanished.

"I might be willing to speak more often...But handling a public place such as a tavern is a bit too much. My apologies, I might stay around here for now, perhaps find out if they have some ammo laying around for my gun or look for Wiellste."
The moth gave a brief nod before stepping back and glancing around looking for the Ethral who mentioned the possibility of making custom ammo.
Look for ammo that could be scattered around the area where the corpses previously were at.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
There are spent shells sitting around but all the actual usable ammo is already accounted for.
After awkwardly receiving thanks, I’ll try once again to determine the exact function of the octohedrons (If someone with good knowledge and relevant skills, like occult, could help, it would be appreciated.) After that I’ll go back to town and try to find a bounty board. Check for local tasks that could likely be done in a day or two.
Spoiler: Harm (click to show/hide)
Ok I think I've said what those things do like 4-5 times now. They duplicate materials. You know it, Clate knows it. You can't get any more exact without testing them out and discovering their properties yourself. Or finding someone who specifically knows about them and there aren't people like that in town.

As per jobs that can be done in a day or two, there's some odd jobs around but they're mostly menial physical labor. Most of the more interesting jobs don't really have a listed "Time of completion"

((The terrible spelling is because I type most posts on a phone with spiderweb cracks over most of its screen.))

Nyw doesn't really have anything he feels is important to do, so he's gonna just stand around and keep watch over Wiellste (or at least her hiding place).

Also, I suppose, watch for any more danger caused by foolish people.

Hey, at least you're not searching for rumors.

"You saved my life. You're a good person. Even now you help me. What more does one need to trust someone?" she responded, still too embarrassed to look at him.
"Hah. Look at me, being so shy. Maybe I'm the one who needs a mask, not you." she joked.
Feeling slightly better, she finally turned to face him.
"I know I've said it like a million times by now, but thank you. You'll probably find me in my cot when you get back, so, um... Come back soon?"
Wiggling his antennae, Drett returns his attention to his bag.
They do afford some anonymity. That is, unless, you wear them everywhere as we tend to do.
Snapping his doctor's bag shut with one hand, Drett raises his mask back to his face with another, and readjusts his cloak with the remaining pair.
Yes, I don't think I will be long. Just some protection, he pauses to stifle what passes for an Ethral yawn, since now that I think about it, I will probably want the medical suite installed first. I can feel the cot calling already.
Ah, I think I hear some guests. They may buy me some time.

((And caught up, whew))

Ah, Vikkan! Let me see that wrist of yours. Now that there is some time, I can at least bandage it up properly before I head into town quick-like.

Redress Vikkan's wrist-stump.

After doing so, head into town and buy some light armor. Whatever passes for fluff-safe chain.

Then, if turn-time permits, go find that cot and get some rest before I have to go fix people on the next mission.

Character Sheet.
[17]
You remove the bandages on Vikkan's hand and proceed to sort of stick a bit of gauze on the stump and then attach it with a single piece of medical tape.  You clap your little hands together and walk off, apparently content.

You buy a mail shirt, all nice and sized for your fluffy self.

and then ZZZZZZZZ

"Hey guys. I'm going to go get some sleep. Vikkan, can you come by my cot when you have some time? I'd like to speak with you some more, if I'm still awake."

Mostly for flavour, what's the lighting situation in the warehouse and in the town in general? Are we walking around with candles? Are there lamps? Is the glow from the magma enough to act as a sort of sun?

Go lie down on my cot and try to sleep.

As I lie there, think about my missing arm. I'm still not used to the loss so I've probably been trying to move it throughout the day, trying to do the things I'd normally do with it only to find it's not there. Has that made me feel strange in the supernatural sense? Or just the normal pain and strangeness of a missing limb?

Close my eyes. Relax. Take deep breaths. Block out sounds and sights. Focus all my mind on my sense of touch. Can I feel anything from my missing arm other than pain and nothingness?

Then focus on my missing fingers. Imagine they're there at the end of my arm, that I'm whole again. Then try to move them, imagining that I can see them move. Does that make me feel strange or help reduce the pain?

Spoiler: "Kara" the Corven (click to show/hide)
If you're outside the magma is good enough most places. Sort of a dull orange sunsetty light that bathes the whole place. Inside you can have candles, oil burning lamps, even electrical lights. Varies. The warehouse has oil lamps connected to the town's supply but they're all off at the moment. Pretty dark in here but with doors open you can see enough.

Ok.

You're not having phantom limb syndrome...exactly. You do occasionally try to use it, not realizing its gone, but there's something else. There is a very dull, very distant, feeling. It feels like the arm is still there and just slightly cold. Like its been numbed with drugs and then dunked in water that is just a bit cooler than room temperature. Its not unpleasant or anything but is odd. You feel it all the way up to your shoulder where it immediately stops. You can't move the limb consciously but you occasionally get the feeling that it is still moving and being used, somewhere. Its all very distant.

Exist. Spawn close to someone who is part of the bore group and request to join their crew.

Spoiler: Kalagony (click to show/hide)
I'm gonna assume you walk up to the warehouse, blunder inside, and ask Kara about joining the crew.

Sleep, but talk to the mole guy first
”hi! Want enchantments?”

ZZZZZZZZZ

1. Transactions whose prices were already discussed before: Sell one gold cube for 100 fathoms, Buy the mail shirt upgrade for my exoskeleton for 20, buy 1 electronic part for 6. This should leave me with 224 fathoms.

2. Go claim a corpse from the warehouse. I'll be using my knife, bladed shovel and/or elbow grease to remove some bones and the skull. Attempt to craft a coffee mug from the skull with the engraving "Can we fix it?" on the side, and "No, it's fucked." on the bottom.

3. Using my structural junk parts and electronic junk part, craft an electric guitar. Use the bones from action 2 for the fretboard inlays and to decorate the body with some artistic inlays.

4. Go to Polyantha's shop. Present the spider crystal baby and strandbeest crystal baby to her and say the following. Try to read her reactions to both of them, if possible. To see if one interests her more than the other.
"Hello again, I have returned to make my first purchase in your shop. I recently came into possession of these crystal constructs from a trip we made to a ruin of the crystal people. Rather pretty, but their receptionist had dreadful manners. Anyways, I haven't yet decided which of these two little guys to trade in. I've grown rather fond of them, you see."

Spoiler: Clate (click to show/hide)

1. Ok.
2. [6] You do this and in  fact go a bit overboard. You use the skull, the spine, tendons, and a structural junk to make an extremely cool skull mug scrimshawed with your motto of choice. You even build in a trigger on the inside of the spine-handle that, when squeezed, caused the mandible to open and close. So you can use it as a puppet. You hear jealous noises from some parallel universe.
3. [3] You make the guitar. It turns out looking...well rather ordinary for a guitar made mostly out of metal and with human bone fretboards.  You give it a strum and it...ok. You know how guitars generally sound right? Well this one sounds the same but..You could swear you hear screaming under the tone. Like this
4. You present both babies to her and seems interested most in the strand.

Go to a bar and hunt for rumors.
Spoiler: Alex Wells (click to show/hide)
No more rumors please. If only because the more rumors we get the more waffling between possible jobs there will be.

"Ooh, that one!" Auft exclaims, pointing at the already-modified thug. She nods eagerly to the attendant. "Yes, I'll take that one, please!"

Take brace-o-teeth.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The guard nods slightly at you and then takes you to an office where you do some paper work. In a few minutes the man is brought to you in chains, shackled at the wrists, ankles and waist. He grins that serrated grin at you and you respond with your own, four mandibles moving into a grin no human could copy.

"We have such sights to show you."

"Alright! New day! Adventure awaits! And adventures start at shady inns and taverns. So, who's with me? I'm buying drinks for everyone!"

Head to a local tavern. Preferably one near the boreyards, where there will probably be many workers but not too many shady characters. Buy everyone a round of good drinks if it's not stupidly expensive. Tell our story and the story of the church fighting the iron teeth, painting us and the church as the heroes.

The intention is to make our presence known and have our name spread through word of mouth.

The doors of the warehouse open as a star-nosed Mole-man enters, sniffing the air and slowly moving towards the pile of human bodies. After inspecting them from a distance, Kalagony loudly coughs to catch Kara's attention.

"Excuse me, lady. I was passing by when I couldn't help but notice the strong smell of blood, which guided me to this fine pile of fresh corpses. Say, are you the owner of the nearby Bore?"
