The Arks were intended to launch with extra supplies at the beginning, so the Navigational Computer states that the next stop is at Jump 3. We'll have three jumps to ourselves before we stop at a proper "stopping point" with resources we can mine - Jump 0 (this one), Jump 1, and Jump 2. The saboteurs stole half of our supplies before we left, so unfortunately we'll be at equilibrium with them resources-wise.
Infrastructure is important to get before the initial phase, but not the obvious turn 1 priority.

I see defenses mentioned, but discarded because they're not universal enough. What about engines? They help with both defense and offense, at the very least because the faster ship gets to dictate the engagement range.

If we get resources every jump from mining.

[100%] Mining Bay
-1 Power;   -1 LS Capacity;   -1 Skeleton Space
Produces 100 Noble Gases, 100 Uranics, 200 Hydrogen, 200 Metals, and 300 Non-Metals / Jump

It may be wise to build two more and let the third project be a Life support upgrade of some sort.


Question is, is it?

Perhaps the best system to implement would be, if possible, a system that allows us to capture large amounts of material from the mining zones, allowing the Mining Bay to continue working on collecting additional resources even after we've left the area. Our drones would push the material into a collection net or just close enough to accompany us through the jumps, whatever needs to happen. Then we continue harvesting later.

I think we should do Lifesupport, Mining and Power.

It's 100% certain that we'll need those, and it'll give us a baseline to know what to expect with future design, allowing us to tone down or up our ambitiousness for our weaponry.

I say lifesupport, power, and a weapon.

We can make-do with another base mining system or two, if we roll poorly on jump 2 project advancement, but it'd be pretty nice not to risk being fired at with no weapons.
I'd like power or engine now, but doing power first should make an engine easier.
