Excuse my bluntness... But would it not be easier to simply abandon the fortress then use the "reclaim fortress" option right afterward? You would still save all the work done thus far, and you should receive a new anvil in the first year.  :)

You can order stuff from caravans with a broker, who doesn't require anything to be forged. I have one in my fortress and I haven't minted a single coin.
