Hello folks, It's Lovefool again, just call me Fool for short. Welcome to Death Roller, an idea I've had in my head for almost a year now.
Before I put in some plot shenanigans, I figured I'd cover the base rules for this RTD.
1. Obviously, like in other RTDs, everything is decided by a dice. In this case, it's a six sided dice because of course it is. You will learn to love the dice, love it like it has loved you, and hate it as it has screwed over your actions. Anyways, for an example of what every roll does.
Ex. Billy Joe decides to stab the tire on his rival's car
(0) [Universal Failure]: Billy Joe misses spectacularly and stabs himself in the jugular vein, killing him instantly. The universe pities this failure and gives Billy Joe a second chance at life. (+1 to your next roll)
[1] [Massive Failure]:Billy Joe misses and winds up cutting his left arm pretty deep, he's bleeding intensely, and might die if he doesn't seek medical attention soon. (-1 to your next roll)
[2] [Failure]: Billy Joe misses the tire, and winds up chucking the knife far away, never to be found again.
[3] [Minor Success]: Billy Joe cuts the tire, but it's a really minuscule cut that won't be doing much damage right away.
[4] [Success]: Billy Joe successfully cuts the tire, and walks away to avoid being caught.
[5] [Major Success]: Billy Joe cuts the entire tire until there is nothing but rim. He is impressed with his work, and feels confident about taking down his rival now. (+1 to your next roll)
[6] [Overshot]: Billy Joe jabs his knife right into the tire, causing it to explode in his face, giving him injuries to his jaw, nose, and eyes, as well as a concussion. (-1 to your next roll)
[7] [PERFECT]: Billy Joe not only successfully cuts one tire, but slashes all of the tires on his rival's vehicle, as well as draining the battery and cutting the breaks. Nobody will get in his way now, at least he hopes. (-1 to your next roll)
2. Battles are also determined by rolls.
Examples of what this looks like:
[2 for Person A/3 for Person B] - This is a normal hit, which will not kill you. However, after three hits, you will be killed or knocked out.
[1 for Person C/4 for Person D] - This is a critical hit, which will kill you/knock you out in one blow.
[5 for Person E/5 for Person F] - This is a draw, neither side will take damage
Person A will always be the person being attacked, while Person B will always be the attacker. That's just how I do this stuff.
3. In this game, you are allowed to create factions. You need at least 2 other players to be working with you in order to have a faction. Faction Leaders will get an automatic +1 to all non-attacking rolls, while Faction Members will get an automatic +1 to all attacking rolls. You must name your faction, and provide a list of members for its initial creation, after that, any new members added to the list will be put in by myself.
4. Enjoy yourselves.
Alright, now that rules are out of the way, let's move into plot.
DEATH ROLLER
The year is 2XXX, and after decades of governmental infighting and resource wars, the world was brought to total nuclear collapse. Millions were slaughtered by the heat of the atom, leaving behind an Earth of ash and bone. It was a time of mass chaos for those who had survived. For many long days and nights, blood filled the streets, ingraining into the soil of man itself. Eventually, groups of survivors who had either moved on from their wretched ways, or actively fought against the evils would unite into small communities. You are a member of one of these communions, and on one fateful day, the village chief confronts you about the decline in the food supply. They show you a message delivered from an unknown individual.
"Hello, children of the ash. I have come to deliver you from the murky wastes of this planet, and give you chance to enter paradise. As you have most definitely noticed, your food supply is waning, and these cute little tribes you've developed will soon break back down to the degradation you knew before. Ah, but you wouldn't want that to happen, would you? No, no, no, that wouldn't be good for anyone. So I, the great Usotsuki, humbly ask of you to send the most interesting person of your communion to Toronto to participate in a race, a great race to determine the fate of the human race. Oooh, I used race three times in that sentence, good one on my part. Anyways, send down your interesting person, and if they can gather 5 keys from any of the 15 cities I have marked on this map, and arrive in Yokohama, Japan, I will give their village a lifetime supply of food and seed to keep your community thriving for the rest of the time we have until the next nuclear holocaust. The rules are simple, you need a vehicle to drive, and to be a living being, because if you aren't alive... well, what's the point?! Hahahaha!! Anyways, I hope you all arrive safely, and have a great race. G'bye!"
Your chief believes this is the only way for the village to survive, and you make your way to Toronto to begin your race, and discover your fate.The race will be starting in Round 2, so Round 1 is dedicated to you establishing yourselves. Have fun, and I'll update either tomorrow or Thursday!
