You decide that you will need a champion. A mortal blessed with your power, to perform dark deeds and lead armies in your name. So you wait, and watch, to see who wins the duel. As you do, you gain various impressions from the surface of the minds about you. The duelers are brothers, and fierce rivals, always competing. The tribe is part of a larger confederation called the People of the Scale, but only barely. And the younger brother, who wields the axes, is full of vengeful spite about something.

The shaman begins to stir, seeming to sense your presence. He begins to raise his hand as though to call a halt to the duel, and the younger brother smiles as the other slows. An axe knocks aside the spear, then an axe slams into his brother’s head, the backside cracking him across the temple.

He stands triumphant, and softly, without even realizing it, he whispers your name. ”Beleth.” he murmurs, as your power flows through him, bringing with it a shiver of pleasure as you enhance his muscles and his mind. This mutation brings with it a connection: you can see into his mind now, and speak into it. He is not yours yet, but he is close.Close enough to give you a sliver of strength from saying your name in unknowing worship.

Spoiler: Beleth (click to show/hide)

We should ask him questions regarding the environment around us and it’s history

encourage an act of cruelty through his mind. Have him mutilate his brother. Do not reveal ourselves as we do this. Just push forward his own spite and resentment.

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

I want to wait for a few more votes/hours before I update, but does anyone have any questions about the setting? You have gleaned some information from the surface thoughts of the tribe, although much of it may be false or not completely accurate...

Is there more advanced societies than the tribe?
Are there any gods we have to worry about?
Is anyone here prone to do magic?

When you landed, you sensed...something underground, but you are not certain what it is. It could be a more advance society.

Some in the tribe have heard rumors of men with crystal axes that cut through bone like grass, but they think they are legends told by the liars from the Azak, who seem to have a reputation for tale-telling.

The tribe worships dragons, spirits of nature, and the ancestors in equal measure, considering them to all be part of one cycle.  These are their gods.

Everyone knows a few simple rituals to try and ward away insects and attract prey. Only a few have more knowledge than that, although more have the potential to learn...

So do anybody else think that corrupting the shamans should be one of our top priorities

First the mighty warrior then the shamans then the tribe then the entire pact of tribes then the surrounding lands then the world...

Oh and on the way we should gather gold and then buy us into a dragon friendship...

Also do we know anything about dragons? Are they beasts or sapient?

As most see the duel as over, there attention drifts. They begin talking, eating, sharpening weapons and repairing tools. Several children sit in a circle around an old man who tells them a long, winding tale involving onions and bees. The two brothers don’t move though, and neither does the shaman.

Carefully, you hide yourself, both within minds – the name of the victor is Samana, you learn, and his brother is Sazona – and in the world, crouching down so that all but the very tip of your head is hidden behind the endless waves of grass. Then, carefully, you push on Samana, encouraging his wrath and fury, suppressing his love for his brother.

Samana takes a step forwards. Then another. He raises the axes, and then snarls, bringing them both down towards Sazona’s wrists. At the last moment he shifts his aim, taking two fingers from each hand instead.  You send a second, weaker wave of pleasure to him, made from the evil generated by his wrath.
Sazona begins to stir, bitterness and anger and humiliation flowing through him as he realizes what happens. Samana turns. “I seek to commune.” He says, and then he walks off, heading out of the camp, away from the barrows, but not quite heading towards you either.

You can smell the blood, feel several more simmering conflicts, and both brother’s thoughts are maelstroms with incredible potential.

Spoiler: Beleth (click to show/hide)

(In most worlds, dragons are sapient creatures who are typically mostly solitary, have a desire for some sort of treasure that borders on the obsessive, and can grow immensely powerful through age. It occasionally varies from world to world. Here, they seem to be sapient, extremely magical in nature, and incredibly powerful, although this all comes from legends.)
