WELCOME!

This is a Dwarf Fortress Graphical Tileset, All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. it is encircled with over 5000 creature sprites. This object menaces with spikes of 10000 furniture sprites for each material. On the item is an image of porcelain mine tracks, floors, walls and furniture. On the item is an Image of Vettlingr, Vettlingr is working furiously. The artwork relates to the update in the early winter of 2021 during Kok Ado "The Sleepless Nights". Vettlingr claims this Artifact as a personal heirloom.

If you, like me, like your dwarves big-nosed and stunty, with a hint of anglo saxon or nordic design. Perhaps you like gothic horror or a darker style for your dwarven dungeon paired with a beautiful consistent design. Fret not, thy tileset pack is here!

This tileset is a product of three things; the (almost) limitless of the TWBT extension. A strive to eclipse Mephs tileset, and a spark of pneumonia. I started this back in 2018 while being home sick with pneumonia, needing something to do. I started off drawing dwarves in a nordic folklore style and just extended beyond that. My main motivation was trying to produce a 32x32 tileset with limitless possibilities with a coherent feel and uniform style. The problem with Mephs tileset at the time was the vastly varying variations and styles throughout the tileset, which was a product of Meph using many different tiles from different authors and games. While the ethics of extensive burrowing of sprites can be discussed, Meph was a pioneer in TWBT editing, which is a craft I decided to master. A coherent tileset with a single author or artist will always prevail in the end due to the quality and uniformity of the set anyway.

It's probably the matte earth tones Im so fond of. That, and the hard black lining. You shouldn't underestimate browns and grays, they can bring a lot of color and contrast if used right.

Ah, I thought it would be like that, because of your previous post:
I tried my hand at drawing and made a graphics set for my mod suitable for your tileset. :)

I hope I fit the general style quite well, even though i've been using a pretty standard gimp install.

Maybe I can add the option to pick Meph, Oab, Vettlingr or Vordak dwarves. :)

As I work on, this graphics pack ill probably extend beyond dwarves. Feel free to Include any new content aswell. I have elves 60% done, and after that, I dont know If i do humans or "scandinavian troll"- Goblins... Might do a reimagination of kobolds as little shrew people...

If I do humans up next, they ill probably use a lot of the dwarven assets, I just think humans are boring. aargh!

Furthermore... where can I find a complete list of valid professions for a graphics set... Found out that -skeleton- is unvalid as well as LAW_ENFORCER and TAX_COLLECTOR fail to show up. The Wiki page is outdated when it comes to shopkeepers and snatchers/criminals.

But humans can be so many things, with all the fancy and bizzare armor and clothing choises they've had in history! I feel like those kinds of creepy-yet-ornate helmets would fit both the style of the tileset and the flavor of DF humans (they strongly prefer items that depict humans and fanciful creatures; also, them and the goblins are the only entities using masks)

as well as, perhaps, pilgrim hats, and/or tam o'shanters, and/or chaperons. May even go for top hats, and/or tricorns, and/or peaked caps (Rogatywka is particularly fancy), and/or panel flat caps, if something more out of ordinary is desired.

Not that I have a better vision than the artist, though. Just my 50☼.

Also are you able to make the 24x24 have a 24x32 where the top part is just extra space? I have a personal tileset I'd like to personally use this with (it's 24x32) if it's too much I'll just muck with it myself in gimp using my tile sets checkerboard to align it all.

@Sver: Sure, mask-like helmets are an excellent way of making them more distinct. I actually already made the "Sutton Hoo" helmet for my adventurer sprites.




@Hugo_The_Dwarf: If you are able, I would much prefer you do it yourself.
I was looking through other graphics packs, an im wondering if wanderer and shopkeeper are valid professions.

@Dahrk: I have done a few tryouts for trollish goblin heads. Still not sure what the basic body/head is going to be...



Furthermore, Elves are 99% done. Just need to compose the graphics file. But after that, im not sure if I should rush the release.

The graphics definition should be for MONARCH.

King/Queen are just names inside the position definition:

[NAME_FEMALE:queen:queens]

If you mean the tags on the wiki:

MONARCH
MONARCH_CONSORT
KING
KING_CONSORT
QUEEN
QUEEN_CONSORT
then the MONARCH is for both, if you have only 1 sprite, while KING is male, QUEEN female. I haven't tested it ingame, but you might be able to make gendered sprites for the monarchs. It's unusual, since it seems hardcoded and isnt in the raws/text-files.

So if I in a mod rename MONARCH to JARL, with male title being jarlguy and female jarless.

will the graphics tags JARLGUY and JARLGUY_CONSORT, contra JARLESS and JARLESS_CONSORT also be valid?
