Shouldn't trees, moss, and shrubs start growing in the muddy caverns once you release the spores from the third cavern?

Mushroom trees grow everywhere where there's soil/mud except other caverns. You'll see bloodthorn and nethercap in the soil just below the surface, but they'll never settle in cavern 1 or 2. What's growing in caverns seems to be controlled by the cavern biomes, regardless of which spores may "migrate" there. See my suggestion http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=164686.0.
