Because I love stellaris so much, and have always wanted to do an dice-roll RPG in the vein of it and using the game as the setting, I've decided to do so! Join as you will, the game is heavily modded and so the basic premise is this, in an image
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
As well as this, finishing the backstory;
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
And a current view of the starting solar system, as it is. Earth is a tomb world and as a character in this RPG storyline you may visit there many times-as well as other places, and stations.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Anyway, here are the basic character types and they're starting attributes. To hit modifiers will be based on items present within the game(ie. a battle rifle will grant a large perception and small but significant damage bonus)
Spoiler: Enlisted Private (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Scientist (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Freeform Archetype (click to show/hide)
Anyway. Let me know what you guys think. I will be using a dice roller, instead of a random number generator(based off of random.org) and you can all play-although, the character archetype and such will decide the majority of what you experience in the storyline, it will be a sandbox still. It will be my creative writing and also the wishes of the people involved in the game. I'm posting a poll to see if people are interested.

Please, do post away with what archetype you would like to play/create! The starting location and mission is a mystery, but you'll have freeform options which are however, decided on the dice rolls based on your attributes and to-hit modifier items. Thank you for reading, and I hope this pans out!

Going through the martian capitol district, you visit a museum. The guide leads you on a tour-first to a statue with a man in tattered rags, holding a shield and a energy pistol. Behind him is the symbol of the revolution-A single star. The insignia reading, 'In servitute liberetur'. The guide goes on to explain; "It means 'through slavery, liberation'. The reason being is that the reason our leader Raymond Leroy was able to liberate our brothers and sisters was because his Shadow Council chip wore out. Something in his brain, a mutation, much believed by the populace to be an act of god itself, rendered the control device in his body obsolete. Some say it was pure chance, or fate that led leroy to be the sole person to begin the de-implantation of mars, and then leading the war against Earth. In the end earth was destroyed-the shadow council itself present on Earth controlling mars decided to detonate all of the nuclear weapons on the planet at once. Some say it will take billions of years, even with us attempting to terraform it back to a habitable state. However, there were mass evacuations beforehand, organized by Leroy. He once stated; 'If I had known the sorrow I would bring upon my homeland, then I would never have broken our shackles.'."

you remark, "Bittersweet".
The guide replies, "Indeed."

You finish your tour of the capitol, and head to the ship to make your way to your cryo freezer for the mission to earth. You show your badge and are permitted entrance aboard the RMSV Democracy. You find your way to your bunkroom. Your cryogenic freezer, a picture of your family hanging on the wall, and a computer assignments terminal are here. You hear the captain talking outside of your room, with your squadmates. What do you do?

((OOC:EDIT:please keep in mind you can queue actions as well. This will help us speed the game along if anyone wishes to see the progression move faster.))

You make your way outside your cryo-room. Down the hall, you go, and into the command center. Here are four of yours squadmates, Anthus, Rivel, Denerius, and Isho. The captain is speaking mid-way, as you approach and salute him.
"At ease, Specialist Jones. We just wanted to brief you on the situation on Earth, and what it's looking like" the captain says as your squadmates nod at you reassuringly, keeping faith in your abilities.
Anthus begins to speak, "We've received word that the trip will take approximately 7 days through subspace. The construction vessel in orbit has built about one fifth of the research station, which will give us much more insight once it's complete."
Rivel interjects, "But, Brandon, it seems there's still radio signals coming for isolated pockets on the surface. The captain-"
You and Rivel are interrupted, as the captain promptly pulls up a display of the map of earth, and appropiate labels.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Yes, this is what we've gathered from our surveys and mid-construction of the science station. There seems to be unidentified signals from moscow-they had built a large survival area into their metro, state of the art before the bombs hit. However, we have no intelligence on if there are shadow council remnants in this area. Danger is to be considered-A preliminary scout probe made it to paris, and found a colony of civilians. They could use our assistance in aid. Food, munitions, and support will guarantee our reclamation of the area..However, we want to avoid a war between them and the surviving metro Russians."
Denerius speaks, "But..there's more unidentified signals. One coming from peru, and another from washington, DC. We want to make contact with any surviving elements and support them. In hopes of uniting them before terraforming one day, maybe hundreds of years from now, is complete. This is going to be the largest mission since the war ended, and I want you men to be on your toes. You'll be doing light recon, and aerial surveillance. Possible drop-shock pod dropping is in the area for us as well, depending on the Area of Operations, or our AO."
Isho, finally, pipes up, "I say we go with the safest option first. Paris."
The rest are undecided. How do you respond, and what do you have to say?

"There was a radio observatory in Peru, fairly isolated and funded for some upgrades before the war, if we're picking up signals from that area, maybe they have surviving engineers or scientists.  Probably a good place to start"

Spoiler: Stats&Inventory (click to show/hide)
The captain nods, "That's true. There was a radio observatory in peru now that I think about it, and before the end of the war it had been built with a small nuclear lab esque bunker. There should still be scientists and engineers there. We have three options for insertion into our AO, pulling up the schematics for the radio obvservatory region now-" he says as he pulls up a pre-war rendering of the region.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

He continues, "We have singals from lima and the radio observatory as well. We have these three options for our landing and staging. Drop-Pod, Parachuting, or using the shuttle."

So, do we all control one character, or should additional ones be submitted?

Well, I would prefer it if we all controlled the same character. That would be optimal for me. But, however, I'm catering to the whims of the players here, so if you wish for additional one to be submitted for you personally I can allow that. I'll just have to change the way I use the bolding for possible actions, I think, but I'm sure I can work with it. So, either way really, preferably one character though.

We'll probably need a shuttle to get back on board anyway, I say we take it to the surface as well.

     Agreed, we take the shuttle.
I'd like to check the emergency packs - First Aid, Food, Water, Power/generator - make sure that they are secure.

You say, "I think we should take the shuttle. Please have the engineers and scientists pack us appropriate maintenance gear, sir."
The captain responds, "Thank you for reminding me. you will have food and water for a week, enough fuel for a weeks worth of travel within the shuttle; although we've seen thermal signatures of anti aircraft guns in certain parts of the AO, so that circle is a reminder of where you can land. You'll probably want to go for the base of the mountain, nearest to the valley, and take the shuttle's exocraft to the observatory. Remember the exocraft has an array of stealth technology, and light defensive weaponry. With that men, you are dismissed."
You and your squadmates nod at eachother, as you go to your pods to enter cryostasis for the trip to Earth.

As the lid on the freezer closes, you can feel yourself becoming numb-and soon, conciousness-less.
Chapter 2: Arrival

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You slowly begin to feel your fingers, toes, and then body again;you hear a loud click and a gushing noise as the tank is drained of fluid. You cough for a second, and then begin to awaken, if a little bit rudely.

You load up with Anthus, Rivel, Denerius and Isho. The shuttle is comprised of only you and your squadmates. The captain comes on the telescreen.
"Hello, and welcome to your arrival to earth. Your coordinates for landing are already pre-programmed into the shuttle's onboard navigation computer, and we'll want you to radio in as soon as you land."
There's only one thing left to do. man the pilot console

Due to our superior awareness and reflexes we decide to pilot the ship ourselves. Next stop: Peru.
