Every time I am an adventurer, I don't use companions as meatshields, instead, I actually treat them like friends.

I once rescued kids from the goblins, and returned one them to their nearby family members. Unfortunately they killed her because of a bug? So i took the rest and kept them as companions and hid them away from the world and retired in an otherwise abandoned hamlet.

Except the one that got eaten by dingoes. I couldnt save them in time.

Well, this is a very refreshing topic compared to the usual DF/bay12 bloodshed and morbid humor. not that there has to be anything wrong with that, just saying, this is nicely refreshing.

I have been trying to get an adv up and running were i help liberate a occupied civ, but so far, my spine keeps getting injured. also, not sure if that is "kind" per se, it will involve a lot of bloodshed for sure...

Except this is mostly because it's tedious to convert their values and I don't like having to start over :P

Oh hey, companions are expendable as all get out. My latest experiments involved trying to convert them all to be werebears.

Besides, I don't think it's still current but if I recall correctly new copies of your companions were loaded when you left their site.

while reading some of your examples some hideous ninja must've snuck into my room and began cutting onions.

when playing, i went to a nearby fort and started building a small hamlet and a bridge so they could cross the river. i abandoned that world pretty soon as nothing happened and i was bored too easily.
maybe i should play adv. more often.

One of my former adventurers, a black mamba woman known as Momuz Wheeltraded the Blunt Ace, made masterwork bone figurines of all her victories.  When her companions found the killing blow however, she instead gifted them a masterwork figurine of their victory.  (She eventually had to acquire a container for her human companion, Osp Tricksfree, after Osp abandoned her weapon to carry more figurines.)

Momuz also gave masterwork bone rings to everyone she met as a form of greeting.  She eventually met her end at the hands of a hill titan, but the works she created are still out there circulating, long after their creator's demise.

I've rescued hundreds of children and returned them to their parents.

I've killed forgotten beasts and taken whole forgotten libraries of books to where they will be appreciated.

I've defended hamlets from invaders.

I sung to my dying companion as she suffocated, shot in the back by a bandit I missed.

I've traveled the world returning stolen artifacts to their rightful owners.

I killed a cave dragon living in a dungeon that had over 400 kills.

I tackled a cave fish man vampire as he lifted his spear to kill a child.

I have done every good or evil thing this game allows. I cannot wait for the villain arc. For where there are villains, there are heroes.

Have you bought a round of drinks for everyone at a tavern

It's a bit of a pain as you have to buy the drinks and hand them out to everyone manually but it can be done

Or steal the drinks and mugs from the back of the tavern...nevermind, this is supposed to be the Kind Thing thread.

Efficiently redistributing tavern inventory counts as a good thing from a certain point of view :D

Nay, getting everyone drunk is a spirit far older than Marx, Jesus was not the last :P
