I don't know how or why, but this thread always circles back around to shit.

Speaking of: world turtle turds (world turdles) can be colonized, if you have a way of dropping dorfs off the back edge of the planet and your timing is good.  The soil is extremely fertile, capable of growing enormous versions of all plants, but they also host atmospheres of pure miasma.

I'm questioning whether turtle shits actually count as baby turtles there.

What matters is the medium through which the turtle moves. My preferred medium is an infinite ocean, so the turtle poos would be like islands floating off in the world ocean. To be honest the whole 'space turtle' thing is really stretching the metaphor there, since then there's really no reason it needs to be a turtle at all.

Continents could in fact be other turtles, and when they collide, to the turtles point of view they've just bumped into another turtle and grazed their shells, but to the humans it's millions of years of violent upheavals. In fact, the main reason that the dwarves don't come across other turtle-worlds in the world ocean is that the other turtles steer clear: "don't go near him, he's got dwarves and you might get infected!"

All nobles are inbred and as the world gets older they mutate into more and more horrible freaks, and this continues until they can't even be considered dwarves anymore.
