New mood "divine inspiration"
« on: November 08, 2018, 10:02:43 am »

Basically what it says on the tin. A new strange mood that impacts only highly religious dwarves, driving them to create an artifact for the glory of their god. Perhaps it could also be more focused in what decorations it selects to give it ties to that god. Or even have a chance to turn base cloth or metal into a divine one (that one is a little bit of a reach I know but I would love to see divine matirials get some use in fortress mode, even if only to bring despair after you find your dwarf made a twisted metal qern or something)

Im loving it! As i understand it, the level of worship is also something that can change, so maybe someone who gets a divine inspiraton could Become a faithfull worshipper afterwards.

Why not discuss what possible sources moods could/should have in post-mythgen releases, while we're at it?

We have inspirations from gods, deities and other objects of worship (that originate through the dwarf's devotion); tricks played by fey creatures; getting possessed by your ancestors, deities, and unmemorialized ghosts that wish to interfere with the mortal realm, beings from e.g. the dream world could fit in here as possessors as well; particularly strong emotions of hatred or anguish like the current fey and macabre moods, maybe similar with love; strong artistic inspiration (maybe reserved for high-level craftsdwarves, or those with high creativity); whatever secretive moods are supposed to be. The source of the mood should affect the properties of the resulting artifact, so that a god of war and fire might inspire a sword of flames rather than a wheelbarrow encrusted with opals.

Lusty moods from Zeus-like deities who feel that it shouldn't only be adventurers who get to be demi-gods.

Yes, but currently the only procgen thing they have is the name. They should really be expanded.

Do they all have the same properties? I thought they were procgen too?

They are all the same property-wise, yes.
