So a lord gave me a quest to remove a necromancer group from the local tower. So I killed all the necromancers, then killed all the zombies, and the quest log still says the task is incomplete. Is there some trick to it?

Also it looks like if you fast travel and return, the zombies respawn, but the necromancers don't. If the zombies count as group members, does that effectively mean this task is impossible?
