"I appreciate that. Truly."

He wished he could promise that he'd learn from it, that it wouldn't happen in the future, but... it was too easy to lose grasp of what was real and what wasn't. There was no guarantee he wouldn't lose focus like that again, that he wouldn't see things he shouldn't be seeing instead of what was in front of him.

All this time and I never learned how to keep my attention in one place...

He would just have to try harder.

Vigdis bit off an expletive as she was blown backward, falling onto her back in a clatter of armor.

Ismos glanced to the side to stare at Vidgis for a moment before deciding to speak up.
"And that's why you have people nearby. There's a limit to what training can do if you are fighting on your own, so you two should think as a team."
"It is pointless to attempt to make promises about not falling down again when you don't know what comes next. The best you can do is steel your resolve and prepare for the next fight. We are fighting as a group, so even if one of us go down, I am sure a comrade will show up to assist."
Obviously he wasn't very good at giving speeches, ESPECIALLY in a topic like that...But hopefully he managed to get his point across.

Somehow, he was still on his feet yet again. He must've accidentally brought his A game against C grade chumps.

"H-Huh? Are we actually pushing them back?"
