Date display on main screen.

For now to access current date we need to pause game by pressing "z" key. This opens status menu. In upper corner can be for example read "16th Felsite, 20, Late Spring". How about making date display visible constantly in main screen with following changes "Year, Month Number - Month Name, Day, Season" like for example: "20, 5-Felsite, 16th, Late Spring"? Could this be possibly introduced? Constantly pausing game with z-button just to check the current date feels imho alike a wee harassment.

How about "20-05-16" for the main screen, and "Year 20, Felsite 16th (Late Spring)" for the status menu?

This is DFhack functionality , but many people don't know about DFH.

Yeah, I do not use DFH. Pressing "z" is annoying like hell. I think I saw some DF streams on Twitch showing date on main screen, but I couldn't find any setting in init, d_init or other files for this functionality... I looked them all up to no avail. Help? :)

They probably used DFhack. +1 for having this as an option in vanilla either way. I imagine it could be something turned off normally, like other semi-trickies like FPS and fluid depth, so new players wouldn't get too overwhelmed.
