Ok, I think we'll start tomorrow.

#1. MASTER BLASER vs COOLING LASER

IN-CHARACTER MODE: ACTIVE

A battle is about to begin! This will temporarily become a IC thread. Questions can be PM'd to me directly. The rules are:

"Talking in a font color"
Actions in bold.
Descriptions in regular text.
Thinking in italics.
(OOC, use conservatively.)

Remember to not godmode/powerplay by assuming your actions happen. Especially as I will determine results, even if a card would seem to surely hit, still do not assume.

Spectators are welcome to talk, In-Character.

PROLOGUE
"THE FIRST TEST"


The lights go out...  Then, one by one, the stadium lights flick on to flood the pit. Two glimmering grey humanoid shapes with sharp edges and solemn postures face one another as the crowds cheer and cameras flicker.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, I am pleased to announce the start of the first ever IRON GLADIATOR fight! Please meet the machines..."

"MASTER BLASER [sic]"



This Michelangelo is equipped with a large arm laser, small torso laser, and medium sword.

"And in the other corner..."

"COOLING LASER"



This Michelangelo is equipped with a large arm laser and medium sword.

"Combat is about to commence. Let's have a fair fight. Let's see a handshake between our pilots before the test battle. Pilots, board your mechs when ready."

Trivia: 2 years before IRON GLADIATOR, there was a string of mech card games I hosted called Mech Card Battle. The first, which used a hand drawn, rather than 3D rendered comic, was REDNECK MECHS!

He glances at his foe's mech. Little was visible externally, but he had years of guessing at the rule-less mechs of the country. Well, that seems oddly similar to my mech... Based on the name it's gonna be Laser heavy, with that Sword to block with. Coolant's gotta be all over that thing, too. He doesn't let a single thought show, however, as he walks up to the opposing Pilot, thumbs in his overall straps. "Well, it ain't nothing like my Skrap Heep back home, but I guess you gotta start with something tame for the first matches. Name's Rusty. You?" The country Mechrunner extended a greasy hand to the pilot in front of him, a wild smile on his face. His hand was likely able to give you tetanus by looking at it, and his demeanor made you wonder how he wound up piloting a mech in the first place.

The Cooling Laser's pilot looks at his opponents mech. Multiple lasers, so he likely has mostly coolant to avoid taking damage by heat, and a sword, likely just there to defend against possible melee attacks. Likely an engine inside to give that extra ZIP advantage. That, or just plenty of coolant to sustain his multiple lasers. Either way, this would likely be a tough fight. "Jamie. Nice to meet you." Jamie looks pretty normal, with a light grey T-shirt, black pants and dark grey coat, along with a white pair of gloves. He shakes Rusty's hand after a few seconds of hesitation, before heading back to his mech.

Well, I guess that's that. Time to get to smashin' stuff! His wild smile grows even brighter as he loads himself into his mech. Nothing quite like the feeling of commanding around a 1000+ ton hunk of metal, knowing that shortly it's gonna be little more than scrap. Or gonna make scrap.
"Master Blaser locked and loaded!"

Jamie enters his mech. "Cooling Laser ready."

The white lights flicker to various colors, and begin to swirl.

Display screens on huge monitors and those within cockpits show a large 10. Then to the sound of beeps, the number counts down...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1... Then with a massive horn, 'FIGHT'.

MASTER BLASER VS COOLING LASER: TURN 02
"TAGGED"

MASTER BLASER is struck by a heavy laser to the torso. COOLING LASER tries to evade, but MASER BLASER is fast enough to keep up. COOLING LASER receives a light slash from left arm, to torso, to right arm.

REVEAL PHASE (Actions, should be bold.)

Jamie winces slightly at the damage he had received. It was not much overall, but still left him weaker as a whole. On the bright side, he had heavily damaged Master Blaser's torso and learnt that he also had a powerful engine. Using that and the other information he knew, Jamie was able to form a good picture in his head of what Master Blaser looked like from the inside. With that said, he was likely going to defend his torso from a potential second laser attack, so now was the time to strike at the most vital of places: the cockpit. Jamie pulls one of the levers on the wall next to him as his heat meter raises, even while the automatic cooling system fights the heat. That done, he thrusts his sword forward in an attempt to end the fight in two moves.

Dump Coolant Tank D to reduce heat. Guard Head with R Arm. Play Stab I against Master Blaser's Head while Evading.
