They probably meant to say 'You can breed your chickens'. Although the given translation is not out of the question for this game...

awesome... must be great to have a 30k goal and get 160k in 2 days or so.
a shame that the kickstarter apparently just works with credit cards, so i have to wait for it to come on steam... oh well.

i still remember finding the one elona browser wave shooter game on kongregate and finding elona from that... such a unique and great game and awesome it gets a sequel

Aw, it's Steam exclusive?

Maybe someone will backport the cool stuff.

Watching the kickstarter video, I think they make it more clear that it's not a bad translation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I found a demo on Steam for the next game in this series. I haven't tried this demo yet, or even played Elona, but I remembered this thread was busy a while ago so here you go:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2135150/Elin/

It's still in Early Access.

EDIT: Whoops, I just went back a few pages and everyone knows about it already. Now how do I undo this giant necro for no reason? I guess by playing the Elin demo now and posting about it later!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This demo is pretty cool. I'll check out Elona and see what that is like.

I bought Elin. I liked it.  It's a lot like Elona.

I figured out the missions from the board are probably the way to start. Who's this Loyter guy anyways? He kept throwing a stone for 150 damage at the Pianist character I made. I managed to grind up Performance skill to being able to perform for non-shopkeepers. Are shopkeepers really immortal? They sure hate performances; the character's hp was too low until level 6 or so to survive being hit by the stones they threw. I then lost the piano after dropping it somewhere. I found a harmonica not too long afterwards though. The character was using unarmed for a while but that seemed to suck, so I switched to a sword of some kind with +Negotiation skill on it for better prices. I also had an incident with a cursed halberd that took four or five uncurse scrolls while all the other curse stuff peeled off after one or two. This was at the very start, before I learned about the board quests, so it was taking a long time to earn the 1000+ GP for each scroll. Now, I've found a shurikan to replace my +1 Stone (which I enchanted myself) and also some kind of hand grenade that vaporizes a 3x3 area into atoms according to it's text description. I am unlocking new skills with my PP. I finally saved Poppy after getting greedy for the last loot in Puppy Cave a few times; this time I brought a cheap adventurer I somehow outrank now, so I'll figure out how to gain Influence points with them to have them join permanently. Even without the piano the character is always burdened due to the big pile of rods and whatnot to zap tough enemies with. I bought a blessed deed for a storage house for that reason, after to my horror I hit the item limit in the starting cave. How else am I supposed to make big, difficult to sort through piles of this junk I'll outlevel and never use?

One the followers triggered a Wish from drinking from a well early on. I wished for "Charisma" and got 3 recharge scrolls. I guess I could write a better choice down in case that ever happens again. The wiki said it was very rare for that to happen and it becomes less likely each time.

Elona's pretty good, I'll probably get Elin too at some point. How is Shena's ass in that one?

I know Elin is the hot new thing, but sometimes I still get a hankering for ye olde Elona. I know there are/were several versions and forks being worked on, but which ones are some of the best-loved?

I'm not sure that I need Elona anymore, since I have Elin.

I mean, sure Elona has a fully-formed campaign, but since I never got past the Fire Caves, why should I care?

Elin's fine and all, but I need something that can run on a computer without access to Steam and isn't going to want near-daily updates.

Same except I need a version of it that isn't full of tedious survival-crafting inventory management and workshop junk.

The beautiful part of Elona's crafting system was that it was almost invisible and could be totally ignored.

Yep, if you enjoy the gameplay loop of stacking up piles of workshops and storage boxes, stopping off at base every five minutes to drop off crafting materials, and not being able to accomplish anything without doing a long chain of crafting recipes, it's very much in that Minecraft/Terraria vein.

That does eventually start dropping off once you've bootstrapped into the dungeon clearing loop but at that point it's just Elona gameplay with 20-30 hours of survival-crafting at the front end.

I only tried the original branch but I found this on a link on the Elona wiki. It appears some wizard has cast blur upon as a contingency in case it is removed from the premises. Curses!

Here is the page, it's on the fandom wiki

Here is the wiki I've been using and where I found the page above
