How can I see the kill list of deceased named units?
« on: January 31, 2019, 09:52:47 am »

As above. My dwarves swarmed that huge feathered Scorpion forgotten beast but I would love to see what its kill list was. I also had a GCS take out 6-12 dwarves and would love to see that as well. But the deceased unit list doesn't give me much of any option. Do I need to save a copy of my fort and abandon or is there an easier way?

There are as many ways to play the game as there are socks on a battlefield.

Maybe dwarf therapist will give you the needed info.

Else you will have to copy and end the fortress. DFhack export-legends creates some sort of bug in the save I read in a post a while ago so better to use on copy too.

Creating a copy for viewing in legends mode does not take long.

I'd choose retire instead of abandon. It might show more about your fort and its relations in legends.

The recommended way to use DFHack's export-legends is:
- quicksave
- openlegends
- exportlegends info
- die

The quicksave will have saved your game, so the openlegends corruption does not affect the game. I assume it would be possible to use DFHack to get at the data as well, by looking at the hist fig and/or unit info for that particular unit (e.g. using gm-editor).
