Hi, I'm the guy who had built a magma-spitting shark (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=165094.0) and a magma-sweating Darth Vader (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=169804.0). So I've started to share another fort, it's an arctic embark on an oceanside glacier. Embark is very big, 7x4, because I'm planning something really tremendous. As usually there is a Russian-language thread describing the same events much more thorouhghly (https://vadim-proskurin.livejournal.com/tag/glazedfaith).

Armok Vision depicts ice as a totally transparent substance, it's fascinating:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Armok Vision now shows item encrustments, it's beautiful:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A flaming crocodile Gabetaba Ura Zebu arrived in caves, entered the fort through a forgotten temporary tunnel, killed 5 dwarves including a child. Fortunately, dwarves managed to wall the dangerous area off and then to collapse the ceiling over Gabetaba's head. Apparently, Gabetaba's corpse is weightless and its surface temperature is similar to Sun:

Transparent ceilings are beautiful:

Miners are mining ice near the fort's entry from the inner side:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Goblins arrived:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I decided to build cage traps everywhere instead of weapon traps as before. All invaders successfully got caught and transferred to a concentration camp:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Elves declared war on dwarves. Some elven warriors define themselves as prisoners, not spearmen or bowmen but prisoners, I'm confused:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

When entering the concentration camp, elves tried to revolt, so dwarves had to kill all the captives except two. Two dwarven warriors got severe PTSD:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Later one of them got better after meeting the mayor:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

On the photo the mayor is sitting in his personal dining room and eating imported moose meat. Walls and floors are engraved with beautiful pictures.

Is magma somehow going to be involved? An underground recreation of the Hunger Games, with magma as the reset method?

Is magma somehow going to be involved?

Yes!

More invaders arrived, a whole fucking lot of elves, horses and leopards, maybe some 200 bodies totally. I couldn't picture them all in a single shot, they are too numerous:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dwarves entered caves, few were bitten by a crocodile. The doctor sutured one with an adamantine strand:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One dwarven loafer has written typical PhD thesises:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I found out that animals of different species fight each other a lot when imprisoned in a single cell:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The construction started to grow over the icy tower, from 65th z-level up:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Invaders arrived: elves, horses, gorillas, mandrills, tigers, jaguars and leopards, some 140 bodies totally or maybe 200. They overflew the cage trap corridor and entered the titancatcher - very long П-shaped corridor with drawbridges on both sides. Then human caravan arrived and entered the trade depot undisturbed. There are elephants in the trade depot, their backs reach out, it's a glitch:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another angle:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Armok Vision depicts horses similar to dire wolves, it's OK.

Dwarves inside the icy tower:

Another elven army arrived, invaders show up faster than dwarves transfer them to the concentration camp:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fortunately the human caravan got stuck in the trade depot fighting for the fort as a mercenary squad:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

65 z-levels above the surface the megaconstruction starts. Except temporary floor foundation, half of it is monolythic ice, another half consists of crystal glass levitating floodgates:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There's a golden lever in the icy part of the construction, all the floodgates should link to it:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Floodgates really levitate:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I decided to clear out the titan-catcher with marksdwarves. In the right part of the photo you can see marksdwarves beyond the fortifications and a pile of meat in front of them:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The view from the highest level of the fort, it's the corridor between the gyms for dwarven soldiers and loafers:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

On the surface a naked elven girl detected, she's crazy as fuck, crawling around babbling:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Later she got killed by a dog:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Walruses detected on the surface:

I... I can't tell for the life of me what you're trying to build here. Sure is tall tho.

How do you produce ice in such vast quantities? Some kind of aquifer-pumping apparatus?

VP, I just want to say that you are one of the most legendary builders of our time, and somehow the least known.  For whatever it's worth, I love your posts / projects.  Keep up the crazy work, my good Dwarf.

Walls, ramps and floors are made from water that dwarves pour from buckets, then miners dig what must be dug to create ramps and floors. Stairs are made from the ice that miners dig near fort's entry.

A doomed migrant watches approaching elven army:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One dwarf claims himself a criminal, he had listened probably too much gangsta rap:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There's a whole fucking lot of captured invaders in the fort:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The siege is over, dwarves reached the surface again and painted it green immediately:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Livestock breed furiously:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The construction of ice and crystal glass keeps on growing:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's time to visit hell. Dwarves constructed a demon-catcher full of cage traps, there are many cats pastured nearby. I thought that some demons will spite webs so they will capture each other in cages. There are two floor-breakers because I built first of them in wrong place. The artefact coffin and the ordinary cabinet are the bait:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Somebody pulled the lever, hell's gate opened. Demons started to spit fire at each other:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And then... What the fuck? Where are they all gone?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The last three clowns remaining of all the circus:

DFHack's "reveal hell" showed that the circus is not yet defeated. They just retreated for some reason to south-eastern corner of the map:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another elven army attacked caravan's guards, it reminded me Boatmurdered:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Elephants suck, I'm disappointed.

One of caravan's horses had gone wild after werepanda's attack:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dwarves bit the werepanda to death in mere seconds:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I cancelled the concentration camp because FPS, now that place is a training ground for giant cave toads:

Grazers ate all the grass and began to starve. I decided to do nothing except to tell the butcher to try to resolve the issue:

He did not succeed:

Animals still living wish they were dead:

The king doesn't like his new capital:

He and the queen consort got in their bedroom an artifact bed from the museum:

The liaison got a window in her office, it's useless but she doesn't care, she enjoys it anyway:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The famine has ended, the grass has begun to restore. Big grazers died out, small and medium ones mostly survived:

Dralthas still die one by one, elk birdss doesn't care, there're not even hungry:

Dralthas stink:

A half-tamed polar bear visited the icy construction in the sky:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I found out something strange about the assholes that I send to suicidal military missions because can't expel them directly because reasons:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It seems that POWs can betray their own nation and start to fight another side.

The king got severe mental problems, I started to think to expel him somehow:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

He's become a fucking maniac:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Eventually the king got crazy, long live the king:

Pigs and dogs mess with art pieces in the museum when nobody's watching:

Oog, that's a lot of vomit.

Your work is, as always, enigmatic. I can't wait to see what this one becomes.
