That opening shot  really shows how glass floors are not as transparent as glass walls.

Walking naked in glass houses, that werepanda elf woman has adapted to the local culture. It's like you can reach out and touch the sky.

....Oh, clear glass (or ice?) supports? Only now caught that, clever. They're almost invisible. And in-game, can hide them with d-b-h to make them not appear.

I wasn't aware one could be happy, in any sense of the word, to be injured.

It's a shame one needs memory hacking to get gems like this.

Two armies, human and elven, arrived simultaneously, humans won:

Dwarves and dogs are looting. You can see fort's entry under pools of vomit:

The trash yard has grown to 90x90:

Tantruming mayor got impeached and exiled. Ironically, near fort's exit his successor met him and beat up to death, I don't know was it revenge or something. In the final moment of ex-mayor's life a stray kitten touched his arm gently:

Madness overwhelming. Population decreased to 44, army dismissed, pastures undesignated. Hungry livestock gathered in the library:

It's funny that Armok Vision depicts all the skeletons as humanoid.

Oh hm. Outside, looting, the sun, massive corpse closet (that one is nice to look at).

Tbh thought you had made a workaround for insanity.

With werebeasts, I recall it's supposed to be safe(r) to kill them when exiled. I think when old mayor was no longer considered part of your group, the cat and new mayor considered him fair game.

But the results do look like loyalty cascade anyway. Scared animals, mass combat.

I think you meant for animals to take blows. Did they ever take any or did they just starve?

Did the kitten survive?

Just starved.

Did the kitten survive?

Yes.

Whoa, ice engravings are quite something...

I like how the dwarves are as if standing in air inside the flying ship.

Also looking at it through the ice from beneath is neat as well.

Is that rough stone road on the ice outside in the 44 years old screenshot?

Is that rough stone road on the ice outside in the 44 years old screenshot?

No, it's snow-covered shale pebbles.

Nice work, looks like most of the ship mass is done. Wonder if it'll get finished in time for 55th anniversary?

Also those magma crabs beg for a cavein ~.±

For your water freezing in buckets issue, maybe start using nether-cap buckets?

Flying in an ice airship would be an experience. Once you get into temperate regions, the whole ship turns to rain, and you get to release parachute to float to the ground.

No, definitely no. The fort is 59 years old for now and it's a long way to go to complete everything planned. It may be 100 or even 200 years to complete everything.

For your water freezing in buckets issue, maybe start using nether-cap buckets?

Great idea, thank you!

The view from beneath the transparent icy deck, camera stands on the magma bomb shell:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's time for the ship to get armed. Miners dug out four ditches along the deck, one ditch has been equiped with a dwarven impulse railgun. I plan to load it with cages so POWs and wild animals may play Icarus:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The view to the railgun from beneath, it's not fully completed in this photo:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

First test with empty minecart, everything seems to be OK:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dwarves obsidianize map edges in lower caves, I'm trying to dry out this sea so it'll be easy to obsidianize magma 1 z-level below:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I could not do it properly at first attempt because decided not to wait for magma to fill the corridor so it flows out too slowly and dries out too fast:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Second attempt succeeded:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I noticed strange effects, probably of quantum nature, in the highest layer of magma being drained. Where last droplets of magma skim over the lower layer, there something crazy happens:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dwarves drilled holes in the end of railgun's barrel, now it's possible to load it and shoot. Unfortunately, dwarves refused to load it with a cage. I suppose that job has a very low priority.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Miners dug out a ring-shaped tunnel 55 z-levels deep. Somebody pulled a lever, approximately 50 kilotons of rock and ice fell into subterranean subvolcano:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All the rock completely disintegrated in the very first quantum of time. Dwarven physics are weird.

Oh, wow.

In the case nether-caps buckets are inadequate, items with magma floor heating will also have 10075°U temp.

The view of cannons from underneath is really unique feature in Glazedfaith. Being sealed and seeing the rails in the sky is a sight.

Could one of the "magma"s in "the magma laced with magma" have been magma-unsafe stone?

The ship is really taking shape now. Reminds me of some other games in aesthetics, even - such intrication is beyond what I expect to see in DF.

...Oh. I think that was one of the largest magma pistons ever? Impressive. And first gif animation of one I've ever seen, to boot. Nicely done!

Aaa the magma piston is volcano-shaped! I very much approve!

Those clouds look awfully close - will AV keep working if you pierce them?

I take the water sea crashed through and into the magma sea?

The miner plays "the floor is lava", heh.

Looks like the perspective is drawn from the sky?

The abyss looks warm and near.

...And, oh, is that a conning tower? The ship looks closed up, so I can't but help wonder and wait for what's next.
