Hello. Some of you may remember me as the guy that left a few months ago claiming my passion had burnt out for this subforum and creative medium as a whole. That was true. But I am back now, as is my passion for RTD and such. As usual, I promise nothing but to try my best.

Hello. Welcome to my newest full-effort RTD, Odyssey. The six of you may have been brought here by different circumstance, but you all have the same goal: explore the universe and get rich selling coordinates of lush worlds to various colonial empires and megacorporations... or die horribly trying to do so. Be wary. Although there are many hazards in this universe, perhaps most insidious of all is your own crew. After all, when fortune is on the line, who can say how they'd really behave?

Mechanics-wise, everything'll mostly be standard RTD. Having a knack for whatever it is you're attempting makes it less likely for you to horrendously fail.

Name: Obviously, be at least a little serious with this. The tone is supposed to be a wee bit grim and gritty, but not Wh40k levels.
Appearance: Likewise.
Species: Anything you can think of within reason that is also humanoid is allowed. However, if you wish to tack on racial bonuses or such, consult me first for balancing.
Inventory: Everyone really only starts with the clothes on their back and maybe a trinket or two of their choosing, equipment is going to be gathered in the first few turns along with the crew’s exploration vessel.
Background: Depending on this, I will assign you certain bonuses and perhaps abilities. You may even get to reroll certain actions. Don’t go too crazy with it.

Name: R-12 PROTO UNIT 204, or RPU204 for short.

Appearance: A robotic humanoid built for combat and exploration. skeleton-like frame with grayish-black plating, bluish-cyan lights, and a sturdy torso and head due to those parts containing important stuff for the robot to function, like sight sensors, the internal battery, AI system, and power management.

Species: Robot - It's a robot.
   +Being made of metal confers extra durability, and can stop smaller bullet calibers.
   +No blood, so bleeding isn't an issue.
   +Microjets allow for extra strength and can mitigate the problems of heavy weight.
   ~Doesn't need to eat, but hunger is replaced by power usage of the robot's internal battery.
   ~Due to being mechanical and not organic, conventional medical supplies won't work, but mechanical repairing tools will. If a part is destroyed, a new one can be installed.
   -While waterproof, all that metal and circuitry is somewhat heavy, so sinking in water will be accelerated.
   -Can be severely harmed by electrical shock and electromagnetic pulses.
   -Coolant can freeze if exposed to extreme cold, and can overheat even with the coolant if exposed to extreme heat.

Inventory: Nothing (yet).

Background: A prototype robot produced by some corporation specialized in robotics. Unfortunately, the transport drone taking the robot from the planet it was made on to the place it would be displayed to investors crash landed onto the planet where the inital get-the-equipment-and-spaceship part of the RTD happens. RPU204 was the only robot that didn't get destroyed in the crash.

Name: Jacob "Jake" Paracs

Appearance: A baseline human in his mid-30's. Short-length black hair, green eyes, and a tall build leaning towards the slender side. His face has a squared-off look, with a pronounced jawline, balanced by a slightly hawkish set to his eyes and nose.

Species: Straight-up human & humanoid in form.
     +He is used to dealing with all kinds of simple equipment & machinery (guns, radios, electrical devices, tools, etc.), and can jury-rig things in a hurry if he needs to. If you want stuff fixed, or want custom pieces made, he's your man.
     ~Years and years of inoculation and bodily reinforcement to the atmosphere, microbiomes, and alien toxins of other worlds have given him a far better than average resistance to certain environments and pathogens. However, it also tends to make him more vulnerable to others. If he encounters a poison he's used to, he might shrug it off - or a foreign one might lay him out like a rag doll.
     -He has very little idea of how to handle "new-fangled glitterboxes", i.e. advanced technology or anything beyond a personal computer. It was always the "other guys" that handled that angle.

Inventory:
     -Common clothes.
     -A bar code bracelet with his personal information, unlocked if his vital signs flatline.

Background: Jake was a "Pioneer" - a first-in colonial engineer. He was trained to touch down in untamed regions, and get all the initial equipment necessary to establishing a foothold set up and functioning. This included occasionally walking the perimeter lines with a rifle in hand. His broad skillset and penchant for exploring new and often hostile regions made the chance of doing this for a real profit almost irresistible.

Name: Lucian Salazar
Appearance: A rather tall and heavily built man of middle age. He's got brown hair and eyes, the standard for bio-engineered soldiers from his former planetary militia, and
Species: Genetically Enhanced Human
   +Above average strength and reaction speed.
   +Capable of donning armor and wielding a variety of tools.
   +High stamina.
   +Experience as a soldier using a multitude of weapons allows Lucian to quickly catch on to the use of most new weapons.
   ~Taller than a normal human, allowing for increased strength and survivability at the cost of stealth potential.
   -Vulnerable to bleeding and tissue damage.
   -Lost limbs require extensive medical treatment or a prosthetic replacement to heal.
   -Cannot survive in space without specialized gear.
   -Lacks any "innate" weapons, all weapons must be held and as such take up a free hand and can be lost.
   -Subject to pain, paralysis, fear, and other human emotions.
   -Lucian's right knee has been injured in combat, and is prone to dislocation should Lucian experience leg trauma. Lucian, if his knee is dislocated, experiences extreme pain until he puts it back in place, which takes a turn (unless an ally helps him). Lucian can't walk in this state.

Name: Jack Cruft
Appearance: Unlucky Jack is short and stubby and clean-shaven for hygiene reasons. He is much shorter and stubbier than the average human and really looks like he should have an extensive beard. His eyes are keen and piercing. His hair is scruffy and slightly red, and often tucked away out of sight – when not in full chef’s uniform he wears a red handmade woolly hat that he’s pretty proud of.
Species: Human
Inventory:
Cook’s clothing including apron (adequately soiled)
Cook’s cleaver (adequately clean)
Background: Unlucky Jack has always been in search of the dream – seeing the galaxy, visiting unknown places, cooking adequately palatable dishes for exotic species, and then getting them drunk and beating them at cards. He’s actually quite an adequate card player, despite the name, which in fact refers to the amount of times he’s had to sew fingertips back on. But in those particular cases “Unlucky” is more like a euphemism for “Tipsy”. He has less than full sensation in his fingertips. Nevertheless, he is skilled with a cleaver, a pack of cards, a sewing kit (doesn’t need a thimble with those fingers! He’s also passable with knitting needles and general handiwork), and most any ingredients that he can identify – which is a lot more than most. Set him loose in a civilised world’s megamarket and within minutes he’d be blind drunk, cooking a slap up dinner for 24 on one of the display kitchen equipments, and then kicked out by security for being a fire hazard. He is not often allowed shore leave.

Name: Pylo XIII

Appearance: A giant blob monster of a sickly green color. Doesn’t look too appealing - in fact, it’s surprising he can keep himself in one pile in the first place. Vaguely humanoid, with a conductor’s hat on his head and a long trench coat, probably to keep himself from falling flat on the floor. The coat extends to halfway across his face, with the hat covering everything else on it except one pristine white eye amongst the endless blobs  of trash.

Species: God Knows
~Able to melt down and seep through surfaces.
~Items can melt into him, then when he melts down, the items will remain inside him, even if the chunks he melts into are too small to individually hold each item. Basically, nobody knows where they go.
~Smells like utter garbage. Nobody can stand to be anywhere near him.
~Not very good at socializing, or maybe he just can’t do it in the first place.

Inventory: -Rusted wrench
-Dead pigeon
-A handful of twigs
-Flashlight (surprisingly useful?)

Background: Probably crawled out of the sewers. Doesn’t care about details, his past, or how he came to be. Can he even talk?
