1, Let us fight

(sorry for the delay but a was the worse for ware on friday night, chicken feet with vodka an coke..)
In minutes your campfires out an on your horses, riding hard back to Lazi, the walled camp.
The mid morning sun beats down hard as reach the gates.

Inside the walls your taken before the captain and quizzed about the enemy, everything from there numbers, plans, to there weapons and armor and even what there eating.

Once his questioning stops you have to face the barrage again as every one an there dog asks you repeatedly about the enemy.

As the day draws on more and more scouts return echoing your report as the camp fills with men readying for a battle.

You sleep little that night, your mind full with the battle to come, an so the night spent honing your blade an buffing your cuirass.

The drawn birds chorus is broken by the sharp horns and steady beat of drums.
You can see there sorcerer lifted up a top on a shield, he's just a small unimpressive man in white robes holding a torch.
He spits out a gout of flame, much to the cheer of the assembled troops.

The captan give the orders and you soon find your self:

1) In the ranks and waiting?
2) At the flank atop your horse?

There only one last thing you have to do, is decide how far your willing to go for glory at the greater risk to your self.

2. Better to have the option of fighting on horseback than being stuck on our feet.

Also, death or glory.

Your on your horse , waiting in a wooded grove.
You can her both sides war drums and battle horns, the whistling of arrows and exchanging javelins as the battle start.

With yells both sides clash with spears on shield, axe on helm!
There a slow count from the captain "1...2...3..." his voice tense as he reach's 30 "Now! charge!" he shouts as  horse wheels and he draws his sword.

Galloping from grove, you ride together in wide circle around the back of the battle lines.

The pounding drum beat sings in your chest calling you to death and battle.
Ignoring the others you spur your horse on faster, it slams in to there rear ranks, an your swords flashes down like lighting as hoofs trample men.

Your eyes see a warrior, a tall woman an well armored she's giveing orders, an officer.
Some one there glory in faceing.

At that moment the horse buckle under you and hit the ground hard.

Rolling to your feet, you rip in to there ranks like a rabid wolf, blood flys as you bite with a steel blade.
You dunk a spear, knock a sword aside an ram your sword thru a man.
Kicking a shield aside you hack a hand from its arms.

Men flee from you as you howl like a beast, an point your Kopis at the officer.

They meet your eyes with a grin, drawing long basted sword and pointing it back at you.

There first blow numbs your shield arm, you step closer and slash at her face.
She pulls her sword up blow it and returns with a pommel strike that brushes past your ear.
You throw her to ground, face first in the mun and you stamp on her back not once but four or five times until she lies still.
Wild eyed you stare the enemy around you, your hair an face red an gore soaked.

Then the world goes black as something hits your from behind.

Your head hurts when you awaken, your chest and limbs are bruised and there a lump on head.
"Well your awake at last, feeling like hammered shit?"  Soion asks
you nod.
"ehg.. what happened? one minute i was fighting them and the next."
"and there next you go hit by a horse, charge off ahead first an thats what happens.
Still its not all bad news your due a reward from the prince for killing that officer, now eat an get some rest." he passes you a bowl of meat soup.

You ask a reward of...

For the next week you do little but rest, you black eye and bruising turns purple an fades, the split lips heal an you just start to feel better.

Its a week after the battle that you get your rewards.
The prince has come with his wife to make a tour of his holding, well there his for now, the battle has seen to that.

Almost the entire number of mercenary and most of his army are gathered in the camp.
You get the full entrance with the pomp and falir, horse men blowing horns, a speaker proclaiming " his magnificence the lord prince Gauda I, son of Hiempsal, grandson of Juba VI"

The officers get there rewards first but soon your called up, the speaker announces your victory over the enemy officer.

Gauda smiles as he passes you a heavily cloth bag and helmet, you take them an bow, letting the next warrior come up for there reward.

It's a impressive helmet, a rounded bascinet, with a skull faced klappvisor.
The helmets sides an crown is covered in small spikes, the chain aventail has a decorative band of brass links.

The only bad news for you is that the there soon to be no more work for you here.
And that mean you need to look for new work some where.
or head for that treasure in the mountains...

+1 to adventure!

Plus now we look like a badass, skull face and everything. Just hope it doesn't restrict our vision too much.

A helmet is usually better to have than full vision, anyways.

Definitely not disagreeing with that part of it. I'm just curious to what extent Funk would do rolls for, in regards to perception checks.

If a helmet acts as a penalty to perception checks, especially in dark tunnels where we could easily ambushed, it just becomes a matter of cost/benefits.
