You’re a Researcher: RTD/Story game
« on: April 03, 2019, 09:43:54 am »

Notice: Will continue Occult War today but now next rpg for here.

Plot: In the distant future as the Empire Of Holy Humanity goes into the Stars. It is noted all must help the Empire. As new threats have risen.

Below are rules to making a Researcher because that’s your goal, for most part designing things to aid the ground forces. It is soft sci fi and will toss ideas though feel free for own suggestions.

Also everyone is voting as same individual. And lots of dice. Age, gender and name is to be decided amongst yourselves.

Origin: Something about your character.

Noble Scion: Your Family is old money. More resources and political power.

Tribal Roots: Picked from a less advanced world, your tougher and just as crafty. Bonus in weapon designs as you know how to work the damn thing.

Merchant Clan: All about that money and hiring help on the down low.

Talented Prodigy: Super Smart, so smart two extra specialities below.

Specialities: Pick from two.

Chemistry: Working chemical bonds and agents.

Biology: Genetic engineering.

Robotics: Robots and cyborgs.

Xeno Tech: Figuring Out Alien Tech.

Arch Tech: Figuring Out ancient tech.

New Age: Coming up with brand new technology unheard of before.

Vote away and after tallly, plot and starting tree.

How many specialties do we get to pick by default?

EDIT: Also, the thread title should use “You’re”, not “Your”.

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

Two. With Prodigy/talent it is 4.

Arch Tech happens to be ancient tech from highest point of Humanity. Before anyone asks.

I say Merchant origin with Xeno and New specialties. The former gets us resources and the influence to use them effectively without the cultural restrictions we’d probably have if we’re nobility, while those specialties basically allow us to wreak merry Hell on the concept of impossibility.

Then vote for it Rose, along with others based on Origin Pick.

Yeah the Glass routine means since money, can dance around red tape.

if this is a Suggestion game, doesn’t it belong in the main section rather than the RTD section?

I figure at some point, you're just gonna run outta fucks to give and just off yourself whenever you get hurt at all. It's not like there's any downsides to it. Hangover? Suicide will fix that. Stubbed your toe? Suicide. Headache? Suicide. Papercut? Suicide.

There is die roll here on everything and it’s 1-6 and 1meaba bad failure. Most of my regular rpgs have buffer zones not to depend on dice. Here you live and die by it.

Alright decided to give this a nudge. New rule: Can Master the other sciences with time, requires study, experiments.. real trial and error.

Last thing in character making:

Name;
Gender:
Age: ( Due to life extension stuff, do not look like aging until latter hundreds, people could live into half a thousand years or so, with right protein baths.)
Family Emblem: Since picked merchant clan, get to give yourself a banner flag.

Because not only do you work for government, but can pimp out gear for your clan/business deals for extra power/influence. Sure some more hard core officials will try to have you murdered for it. But good luck tryingvwhen your private family funded army with state of the art stuff stomps them a new mud hole.

I'll allow others to come up with the personal details.

For the family crest, however, I suggest a stylized dragon curled around their hoard - black background, yellow hoard, white dragon.

Ic

You are a member of the Fafnir Merchant Clan, whom was based on the legend. The legend of a dwarf who got so greedy his form was then of a dragon. The only difference is your family is smart enough not to reveal your crucial weak spots. In doing so, going on strong. Given your in the top tier merchant clan. Have the following.

Private army for prototype research
Private fleet
Private ship: It has no weapons, but as a Herald, fastest ship chassis in imperial space. Can go one end if Imperium to the other within four days. Which is awe inspiring.

Note: Bare basics here. No lasers and such, the most advanced things are the FTL. But as mentioned, the fastest crafts are space only and require six engines.

Current base of operations was a disclosed savanna world, water, rocks, fauna, and breathable air. Due to research skills following options.

1: Learn Another branch of science ( risky, given the method is drinking books. Which involves a chamber with liquified knowledge.)

2: Work on your own ideas.

3: Study Xeno device:

Pick one of following.

- Energy Gun
- Kinetic Gun
- Armor
- Melee Weapon
- Strange device ( looks like a metallic basketball.)
- strange device two ( looks like a orb, pong bong ball sized.)
-Strange Device 3. Mask, seemingly morphs based on what’s grabbing it, though so far, cannot wear Due to auto defenses that tears would be wearer a new face.
Strange device four: Silver goo in a vial.

Given Xeno tech, a +1 to die. So no 1 is possible.

Rolled: A 4. So 5 Of 6 in total.

Result:

: Tinkering with the metallic mesh mask. Managed to hit trigger enough to disable the auto defense. A volunteer puts it on. He is able to wear it. When it goes back to you, can even turn in function of vision tricks, though somethings were still disabled and a mystery to build them on your own.:

Want to try to invent your own thing?

Tweak the mask more?

Notice: Since you are a employee, have to release a “product.” Once every three turns or the boss will get upset. Balancing quality and when they show up.

That means family and the government. Good luck.

: As for conflict, nothing yet as the aliens your studying are off the radar, for now.:
